In the beginning of 2006, I started working on the first material of what would a few months later become Despare. Experimenting with synthesizer sounds and computer programs, I created a few demo samples and founded Despare as a solo project.
At first the music was quite heavily influenced by classical music, but later on more industrial and ambient influences came into the music and I decided to drop the more classical sounding pieces. The music also became heavily influenced by funeral doom bands, with the difference that the synths were the main instrument.
Around that time, I also started to play guitar and writing some guitar parts and layers. I started looking for guitar players and found Merlijn after some advertising on the internet. At the moment, I'm slowly working on writing and recording songs. Some of the first guitar parts have been recently recorded and the songs are getting shape.
At the moment I'm working on three songs, an intermezzo called Resurrection (which is finished except for the vocals and lyrics) and an intro called Rising.
The plans at the moment are to release a (probably free) promo and to try to score a label deal.
