I'm disgusted by all of you and the universe in general, but I'm not unhappy about it! 8^)

"... sure, things would change if we really wanted them to ..."
First of all, my name, Hannibal? It's like the general, not the doctor. Never the doctor. My first name means "Lightning" or "Storm" in Cartagininan. Damned Anthony Hopkins ... between him and George Peppard ... anyway ...
I'm the H-T-double-E-Z to the Y
you heard mutha WHAT? I stay too damned fly,
the official raw brother in the city of lies
I keep dooinit, dooinit, uh, I am dooinit ...

I'm insane. That's the most common adjective applied to me.
Laughing is my favorite thing to do, and I often go to somewhat extreme lengths for my own amusement.
I'm educated but absent-minded. I loathe using the phone but I adore email. Animal fur makes my throat seize up and makes me unable to breathe. I'm allergic to alcohol but love it when people drink. I am fairly private about my spiritual path, which is considered untraditional by many (but no, chances are I won't go to church with somebody). My last name is a word from the Kiswahili that means "difficulty." I sing karaoke to the point it's become a part of my business life. I am often considerably more afraid than I let on, which bothers me to no end. I crack jokes pretty much all the time, because it's a funny life. I believe in Black people, and in people of color. I use the word "pie" more than almost any other word in my dangerously large vocabulary, because I think it sounds funny. I adore music, making it (GarageBand is God's gift to software), listening to it (my iPod is one of the best things in my life) and enjoying it (I've had more fun at karaoke spots than I could ever have watching TV). I have a mid-grade MySpace addiction, which is probably suicidal given Fox now owns it, but oh well. I love listening to Donny Hathaway and Coldplay, Stevie Wonder and the Cranberries, Jill Scott and Creed, Kanye West and Vanessa Carlton, Barry White and Cole Porter, India Arie and Morrissey, Will Downing and the Polyphonic Spree, et cetera, et cetera. I'm loud but respectful. I'm as country as a straw hat, but adore the theatre and fine film (Lost in Translation rocketed into my top 10 of all time alongside The Professional, Empire Strikes Back, Malcolm X and Fight Club). I go to lots of cool places for free, due to being a journalist. I'm a published poet and novelist . I can't swim nor ride a bike. I sleep into the afternoon on most days, and stay up working most nights. I have a high tolerance for heat and the foibles of people who are profitable to me (and that's a lot more than money). I have a dangerously low tolerance for cold and drama. I've probably got way too much information on my Operative Network website than I should, but it's a big part of my professional and personal identity. I lead a largely stress-free life, I work hard, I play hard, and I sleep like the dead.
I am an enigma, wrapped inside a puzzle, smothered with secret sauce.
My personal mantras include "Rule 285: No good deed ever goes unpunished," "Other people are BAD," "Things have a place," "Rule 99: Trust is the biggest liability of all," "Think bad, Hannibal SMASH," "fortune passes everywhere," "enough talk -- let's go make with the 'biff' and the 'pow' already," and "Rule 106: there is no honor in poverty."
Nobody ever seems to notice this, and the MySpace calendar only shows up on my page once every third blue moon, so ...
KARAOKE SHOWS three nights a week.
Finally, in case you were wondering -- yes, Starkitty's lovely ... she knows how to work it ... but Tennessee Slim is the bomb! 8^)
... we push maximum levels from the Golden State ...
Handle your business before your business handles you,
Mr. H to tha T, DX and Inpu, one two,
remain true, regardless what you go through
Handle your business so you can stand on your own two.

Still want some more? Go and check the ****in' web site ...
(Apologies to Common, Joi, Xzibit and Nate Dogg for the re-interpolation of their lyrics)

My Interests

Universal conquest, pie, laughing, science fiction, poetry, sleep, karaoke, computers, sex, politics, movies, theatre, ancient Egypt and most of pre-colonial Africa, and having as much fun as I can without getting convicted.

I'd like to meet:

People who would like to give me money would be nice. People who can be of some use to me, I suppose. I've been told that I'm a relentlessly useful person to know, so I expect reciprocal profit in return. Nobody is in my life "just to talk to" (unless I pay them and they're professionally certified) and I'm not looking for new friends.

I hate to quote Mister Carter, but "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man!" If it's not about that -- and that's not always about cash, there are considerably more esoteric forms of profit -- then I'm not terribly interested.

NOTE ABOUT FRIEND REQUESTS: With the exception of Carl (who is there because he's too funny not to have as friends, given my GTA addiction), I have either had conversations with literally everybody on my friend's list, or consider them valuable in come business context (so I'd like them to receive my bulletins, and so on). Some have given me money, many have shared meals with me, some have transacted commerce with me, and I am not completely sure, but I may have even slept with one or two.

I say all that to say that "can I be your friend?" is unlikely to interest me. If we start corresponding, via messages or blog comments or what have you, maybe. if I can find a use for you, sure. But if I don't know you, I'm unlikely to approve any friend requests, because (in the words of Mos Def), "I had ... a bad ... experience!" The management apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, your mileage may vary, standard disclaimers apply.

Also, I don't wanna click and listen to your band, I don't wanna be invited to be a reader of your blog, and I don't really have any interest in you if you're not walking up to me with something I will find profitable. I'm fine to do things you'd like after I've found some reason to keep you around, but I'm not charitable and I don't care, so you've got that going for you ...
