Give me a clean sheet of paper and watch my thoughts as they melt out of my soul and drip, drip onto it…” -excerpt from Verbal Intelligence…Yes, Sarah Ashley has been expressing her thoughts through lyrical art since the tender age of 14.Back then her creative writing was a mere hobby, whereas today, that same hobby has developed into an unconditional passion that’s growing stronger by the minute.Born October 19th in Providence, RI, 23 year old Sarah is one of the most noted and active poetesses in her district. In January of 2005, Sarah was deemed “Top Dog of Providence” at a spoken word battle hosted and sponsored by HOT 106.3 FM and Trinity Repertory Co. Her love of spoken word has been conveyed in various ways such as: representing the Providence Youth Team at the 2001 National Poetry Slam in Ann Arbor, MI, participating in open mics throughout New England and featuring her works at numerous universities including URI and Brown.Sarah Ashley’s sole goal is simply to speak life into others through her poetry. She is off to a fantastic start and hopes to grow more profoundly through this art in years to come.
