HEY!!! WE ARE PUNKassPHOTOS. We love music. Okay, well most of it anyways! Our roots are in Punk. We have been listening to it since before most of you were born I would imagine. I was in High School from 79 thru 82. I was the right age and listening to it at the right time. I did however listen to all kinds of music. The late 70's and 80's were full of great music and it was a great time to be young and full of crap!
We call Colorado Springs and Denver our home. We take 90% of our photos around here. We love the venues here and get along well with most all of them. We have done work outside of Colorado and always take the opportunity to shoot when it arises. We've shot gigs in Amsterdam, Netherlands and in Phoenix and Tempe, Arizona. We have some unfinished business in Los Angeles and will get there soon to create some Total Chaos!
We are a little bit different. We don't just shoot the bands. We shoot the fans too. If you look in the photo archive of the headliner of each concert you will find fan shots. Sometimes we take a lot. Sometimes we don't. But our biggest response to our work happens when we shoot the fans. We are very well liked in the community and have litterally hundreds of music fans that we call "personal friends"....
DID YOU HEAR THAT CUBA JUST LET THEIR PEOPLE HAVE CELL PHONES? AND THAT THEIR PEOPLE COULD NOT STAY AT THE NICE RESORTS THEIR BECAUSE THAT WAS SAVED FOR THE RICH AND ELITE??? AND CHAVEZ, CORREA and ORTEGA WANT TO BE MORE LIKE FIDEL CASTRO???? WHAT THE HELL!?!?! THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN THE BIRTH OF FACIST REGIMES. THE TELL TALE SIGNS OF THEIR TRUE INTENTIONS. THEIR TIES TO DRUG TRAFFICERS, KNOWN TERRORISTS AND IN THE NAME OF POOR PEOPLE, THE EVICTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS... THE SUPPRESSION OF FREE THOUGHT, MUSIC, HUMAN CREATIVITY COMES WHEN THE "CHAMPIONS" OF THE POOR SET THEMSELVES UP AS KINGS. PREYING ON THOSE THAT CANNOT DEFEND THEMSELVES IN THE NAME OF SAVING THEM, WITH THE END RESULT BEING THE ENRICHMENT AND SOLIDIFICATION OF POWER. CHAVEZ IS A LIVING EXAMPLE OF THE BIRTH OF THIS TYPE OF REGIME. WE HAVE NOT SEEN IT IN OUR LIFE TIMES. A QUICK HISTORY LESSON. THE BIRTH OF A "HITLER", HIS CONSOLIDATION OF POWER AND THE SPREAD OF HIS SICKNESS TO ITALY AND AUSTRIA. IN THIS CASE ECUADOR AND NICARAGUA. WE ARE SEEING IT UNFOLD A MEER GENERATION AWAY FROM GERMANY IN THE 1940's. IT WILL BE TOO LATE WHEN THE VENEZUALAN PEOPLE REALIZE THAT THEY HAVE PUT A CASTRO IN POWER AND ARE POWERLESS TO REMOVE HIM. POST THIS BANNER TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE AND PATIENTLY WATCH WHAT VENEZUELA WILL BECOME IN A MEER DECADE...
WE HAVE STARTED TO USE OUR CALENDAR for SHOWS WE ENDORSE OR WILL BE ATTENDING. So please check it out! You will notice that we cover all kinds of music. Punk is our first priority but we like to meet people and that's where you will find us.....
DIRTY SOUTH PUNK PHENOMS - WHOLE WHEAT BREAD
All I can say is these guys are "punk anomolies". If you haven't heard their brand of punk, it's contagious, it's infectious, it's just down right the shit punk. If you like Operation Ivy, or Rancid or just fast legible Tim Armstrong type of punk, you'll enjoy these boys.
I've had the opportunity to see them twice now and I'll be seeing them again in a couple weeks. They are exceptional live. I'd almost say they are better live just because of the energy they pump into the crowd. They are a three piece with a rare ability to fill in all the gaps. Aaron, Mr. White Folks and Johnny Rock tear a hole in the stage each and every show with exceptional talent and bravado. If you are looking for a great circle pit and fist pumping lyrics, then I know that I'll be seeing you when they blow through Denver on July 24th. If you are some place else in the world, then get your asses there and message me that I was right about them afterwards!
And a special shout out to Nick.... Stay safe brother....
Here is a little info I stole from Wikipedia on the band to give you all a bit more information on these guys. Enjoy...
Jacksonville punk outfit Whole Wheat Bread was formed in 2003 by friends vocalist/guitarist Aaron Abraham and vocalist/bassist Nicholas Largen. Both grew up listening to rap and punk music, and though they had intended to form a rap group, the two discovered that they both played guitar and quickly traded their hiphop beats for "Dirty South Punk Rock." Largen's older brother Joseph was tapped for drum duties and Whole Wheat Bread was complete. The band debuted in January 2005 with Minority Rules on Fighting Records, produced by Darian Rundall (Pennywise, Yellowcard). They supported the record on the road with bands like Streetlight Manifesto, the Suicide Machines, MxPx, and Reel Big Fish. In June 2006, Nick was arrested on first degree robbery charges and now in jail. The band continued on without him, enlisting El Pus' C.J. (aka Johnny Rock) as his replacement. Early fall shows were played supporting WuTang's Killah Priest before closing out the year opening for the Bouncing Souls nationwide. Their EP Punk Life also appeared in stores that November.
The band completed a US tour in 2006 with MxPx, Streetlight Manifesto and Reel Big Fish plus a couple upcoming shows with punk legends Rancid, and then another U.S. tour with The Bouncing Souls. It confirmed that C.J. (aka "Johnny Rock") from Atlanta-based rock band El Pus (formerly on Virgin Records) will be playing bass for the rest of Whole Wheat Bread's tour.
Their album, Minority Rules, reached #8 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
The band released a new EP on November 7, 2006 called Punk Life. The EP contains 3 original punk songs and 3 "crunk rock" versions of rap songs.
Currently, Whole Wheat Bread is recording a new album, with plans to release it later in 2007.
