"We Have Light!"

About Me

With an average age of just 18, Leicestershire Trio Herra Hidro are shunning what they’re being told they should be listening to, and writing some of the most refreshing music we’ve heard almost any band put out in recent years.
Taking their cues from the likes of At The Drive-In, Biffy Clyro and Reuben, but always ready with a respectful nod to the likes of Shellac, Joy Division and Yes, the trio are an intelligent and involving listen for anyone’s ears.
Most importantly, Whenever you suspect Herra Hidro are wearing their influences on their sleeves, they’ll pull something out of the bag that you never dreamed of - Proving that they’re a truly ingenious bunch of (slightly over hairy) teenagers.
Recently hand picked by Drowned in Sound for a privileged slot at one of their Notting hill Arts Center shows, having never left their home town, Herra are effortlessly turning heads wherever they play.

“Herra Hidro are a new(ish) band from the Midlands, taking cues from the likes of Shellac, At The Drive-In, Biffy Clyro and Explosions In The Sky. Ish. DiS saw them one time and was proper impressed. Yes.”
– Drowned In Sound
“The relative newcomers – the band have but one release beneath their collective belt – carve up a photocopied Shellac songbook with three-way vocal harmonising, Cooper Temple Clause-like throatiness and killer chop-suey’ed riffs straight out of Primordial Hardcore 101. All in attendance are eating from their palms. Striking for all the right reasons, the three-piece’s comparative uniqueness to what precedes and follows them marks them out as a definite discovery, and an absolutely unexpected one at that. No doubt they’ll be gracing the DiScover pages of this website before long.”
– Mike Diver, Drowned In Sound
If At The Drive-In had grown up serving fries in the Midlands instead of pumping gas in Texas they might well bear a strange similarity to Leicester three-piece Herra Hidro.Trans-dimensional comparisons aside, Herra Hidro do a pleasingly furious line in classic hardcore with enough ingenious twists to ensure they stay several steps ahead of the throaty-screaming-by-numbers brigade.
