WRITING AS A HOBBY CAN BECOME A BUSINESS, YOU KNOW?When John and I got married in 1956, we discussed what we would do with our lives. We both wanted to write, but not quite sure what direction that desire would take us. Now, here we are 52 years down the road, and we are publishing our books. One thing we have learned is that we cannot stop learning if we are going to write. As I learn about writing, I realize I am learning a business. I am not studying a hobby. That is because we want people to read what we write. I am not quite sure why I have a deep felt need to be read, but I do.The publishing industry has changed during the last 52 years, and we are surprised the turn it has taken. Most novels that I choose to read are good, clean books. Yet when it was time for me to write, I felt I needed to include situations that revealed some of the problems young girls have today. So my new series includes dealing with rape and having a child outside marriage. My goal in writing to to have a message. One that will not only cause people to stop and think, but one that will give direction to change the direction a young lady is going in life. To stop self-destructing and start on a road of success seems important. I love to hear from people who have read one of our books and found change in their lives. Change for good.If you have read anything John and I have written, please post a comment and tell us about it. The greatest blessing is that a Bible study has caused someone to walk close to God.
