Rico Hartmann a.k.a jah chango was born in Nuremberg (Germany). When he was 5 years old his parents took him to a small island in the south of Spain called Formentera where he now still lives. From birth on his passion for music was already in his heart having a mother who had been a lead singer in funk and rock bands as well as a DJ for ambient music, both with great success. Also his grandfather had been a famous opera singer in the early sixties. Only 15 years old, he gave his debut as a DJ in the family owned restaurant and music bar, having his mother at his side who taught him to “listen†and to work with music. So finally he learned to feel the energy flow of the party people, important for a good DJ. From his mother he also got important lessons and knowledge about music history beginning with soul, rock, pop and funk up to reggae. When starting work in the family owned Blue Bar at 16, he met his first music teacher called Fernando Mirasol who was the first person believing in Ricos talent to make music by himself. While having a lot of fun singing alongside the guitar, the first songs were written and Ricos passion grew and was even more awakened. From this point on, music was the most important thing in Ricos life. Guitar and singing lessons followed. Recordings were made with great effort. Then unfortunately Fernando left the island and Rico had trouble in finding a new competent teacher. Then he got in contact with his uncle Peer, who is an artist himself. From the first moment on there was a deep connection between them not hindered by the difference in age. Peer passed over a lot of his musical experience to Rico pushing him to improve his singing and guitar playing. Little by little the basis for the today existing project “Perros de Calle†was created. Perros de Calle will someday be a band mixing reggae, latin and pop.
