YOU CAN'T MAKE AN OMLETTE W/O JIZZIN ON A CHICKEN

About Me

bios are lame. especially our old one. but we didn't write this one, so its inherently less lame: "There's this guy in Cleveland (Keith Marlowe, now NYC-ed.) that takes amazing pictures, especially of shows in his basement. One band he was super-eager to show me pictures of was this one called We March from the obscure college burg of Athens, Ohio, whom i had never heard of before. The pictures were nuts, with sweat, beer, and blood all over the lens, this weird blur of humanlike movement where the band should be, and terrified (yet excited) looking audience. The singer was the only one you could make out, and that's because he was about six feet up in mid-air as though suspended from the ceiling, eyes bugged out and crazed as all hell. It looked entertaining enough, but then the photographer gave me a copy of their 2002 CD, Life In A Bubble, and holy shit! Their sheer power made all the images make sense, with a great mix of dirty 1980's hardcore, crazed acid punk, and a slightly bluesy underpinning hat didn't fell forced in any way. This band was playing soul music, stuff that came naturally with growing up dirty and unfashionable in the heart of the Midwest. It made sense to me that they had been asked to play a bunch of shows by art-damaged motherfuckers like the Heroine Sheiks because We march's damage is all natural and damned compelling-you can't fake this kind of stuff. I was an instant fan, and took the initiative to e-mail the bandand make sure they contacted me the next time they were on tour so I could help them with a show in the Bay Area-all because I wanted to see them play. They have been here several times since, put out two more great albums themselves, and do not disappoint whether they are playing for two people or 200." - October 2006 issue of MAXIMUMROCKNROLL, by John Geek.
