Biography:Jerrys rhythmic discovery began at age of four in Denver, Colorado, when he not only emulated what a babysitters son was doing, but what he heard and felt. From that point on he would go from pots, pans, coffee cans & toy drums, to studying cello at the age of 8. To feed his desire for learning, playing & performing, Jerry played in every school band, youth group and drum corps available.
In addition to playing in the High School Jazz band and being the Marching Band, Drum Line Leader, at the age of 14 he began his professional career recording & performing with the band Cygnet. They would play all over The Sunset Strip at such clubs as Gazarri's, The Roxy, Madam Wongs, Whiskey A Go Go, The Gas Light, The Troubadour and others. After 3 years of learning the ropes in the Los Angeles Band life. JV studied at the prestigious Music School, Dick Grove in Van Nuys California. Learning from top music industry professionals such as David Garabaldi (Tower of Power) Peter Erskin (Legendary Jazz Great) Tom Brectlein (Chic Corea & Dion Warwick) and Alex Acuna & Luis Conte ( Madonna & Weather Reports', Latin drummer & percussionists). The Classes studied there were Recording Studio Technique, Ear training, Harmony & Theory, Latin Drums & Percussions, Drum Set Technique, Electronic Drumming & Programming, Music Business and more.
Upon completion of Dick Grove, JV landed a major label recording job on Chrysalis / EMI Records with the Punk Rock band Butt Trumpet. They would then record "Primitive Enema" and tour the U.S.. With Butt Trumpet JV would enjoy his Industry success, having his first No.1 single, "I'm ugly & I Don't know why "for 10 weeks straight on KNDD in Seattle, WA. In addition to that JV would finally fulfill his childhood dream of seeing himself on MTV. With the success of Butt Trumpet JV got the opportunity and pleasure or sharing the stage with such greats like Radiohead, Sheryl Crow, Korn, No Doubt, The Cramps and Sublime, Face to Face, X, Fear, D.I., Face to Face and 311 to name a few.
With the end of Butt Trumpet, JV decided to pursue is original goal of being a "Studio Drummer". Developing, Collaborating, Booking, Managing, Promoting, Publicity, Touring and Recording with the many acts Tres Flores, Tongue, Grind Nation, Engedi, Kinetic, Farless Ladylike Tendencies, Orange Door, Vox Populi, The Mutts, Go-Go Men, Polyanna, City Girls Boys, Goforth, Krystal Lake, Alien Breed, Helen 55, Twinge, Primmer 55, Psykick Girl, Julie Numark & Fontaine. All gaining moderate to major success.
In addition to working as a drummer JV worked in the Music Industry Running Sound at the Major Label Rehearsal Studio DB Sound, Meeting Forest For the Trees, Beck and Dog Starr (Kianu Reeves) as a Sound Editor & Graphic Designer, with the CD-Rom / Digital Magazine, Sweet Digizine, Radio Promotion with Brian Ferrish Radio Promotions, Ad Sales with Campus Circle College Magazine, Office Manager at Drum Doctors and Marketing & Development with Delicious Vinyl Records.
JV is currently running The Act Of Entertainment, (Home of his Banging Skins, That 80's Show, Karaoke Whores, The Rhythm Section, Red Hot, and Dr Mad Vibe (DJing). In addition to DJing and playing or recording drums for Alien Breed, Savannah Lynn, Fast Times, Shon Kornfeld and The Rock & Roll Assassins, JV is auditioning for some pretty well known name Acts and Artists.
