ABHORRED have been around since 1999, formed in Dubai, U.A.E. The formation came about from 2 bands, SPYNE (Thrash Metal) & ESKIMO DISCO (Power Metal) – winners of Battle Of The Bands in 1999 at Dubai Collage. The 2 bands merged into one power, which is formally known as ABHORRED. It originally started of being 3 Guitars, Drums & Vocals. The different influences that were bought to the band made a remarkable impact on how the music compositions was made. Being from diverse backgrounds & listening to different types of music played a huge role in the way the music was written. ABHORRED found a new sound & direction... A beast was created!
ABHORRED wrote the first song in early 2000 called "Structures Of Madness" and participated at the Battle Of The Bands in 2000 at the Aviation Club. The reaction of the audience was extraordinary, some were shocked, some bewildered & other just stood there with their mouths wide open trying to figure out what hit them, as ABHORRED was the first Death Metal band to emerge from the UAE and the first band to play such heavy and technical music, that set a standard in the scene. Fans started emerging as soon as we got on the stage. The following began! At this point ABHORRED consisted of Saif (Guitar), Moe (Guitar), Serge (Vocals), Pritam (Guitar) & Pravin (Drums). This line up played a few shows & wrote the material for the first E.P. The beginning of 2002 saw the departure of Saif to the UK & soon after ABHORRED stumbled upon Rami, the Bassist. Finding Rami completed the pack & bound the music in a fascinating way. Later on that year, Moe left the band to continue his education in the UK. The band had to move on, so the final line-up till 2004 consisted of Serge, Pritam, Pravin & Rami; no other guitarists were recruited.
ABHORRED was one of the founders of the Metal scene, but have remained underground. We are still recognized as one of the top dogs in this region & plan to be around for a while.
To date ABHORRED have composed 9 slamming tunes for an album that will stay on the shelf!
Lots of changes were made during the recording of the unreleased album, musically & lyrically, almost all of the opening riffs were changed as some of the material was a bit out of date, to modernize our music, we had to update songs & be innovative for a more crushing & vigorous sound that suited our state of mind & feelings.
ABHORRED have played their hate in over 30 gigs in the Middle East (most of which were headliners), Mostly in the UAE & a few in Lebanon.
The first ABHORRED release was a 5 track E.P. called "THE EMPIRES FALL"; it was recorded in Dubai in 2002. The E.P. sold copies all over the world.
ABHORRED have played alongside such bands as NERVECELL (UAE), MORGUE (UAE), NEPHELIUM (CAN/UAE), OATH TO VANQUISH (LEB), WEEPING WILLOW (LEB), DIADEM (LEB), JULIANA DOWN (UAE) & many others…..
Currently ABHORRED are working on a few new tracks; 3 have been recorded, and hopefully 2 more will follow. We still have not decided whether it will be another EP a single or to go ahead and bang out an album.... we shall keep you updated on our progress! The style has changed a bit, we decided to go back to our roots & combine the power metal with the tech death metal, to come up with something a bit more groovy & simplistic!The current line-up consists of Serge, Pritam & Pravin (currently living in the UK). Rami had to part ways with us and concentrate on his solo career; no bassist will be recruited as of now.The Empires Fall E.P. was recorded @ Mindloop Studios, Dubai, UAE in 2002. It was Mixed, Produced & Mastered by Andy "Easy My Son" Ward & The ABHORRED.
A total of 9 songs were recorded @ Mindloop Studios, London, UK in 2004. They were Mixed & Produced by Nick Caffery & The ABHORRED.The tunes will never be released as a full-length album, however, 5 tracks (out of the 9 tunes) have just been released as an E.P. titled "The Infinite". It was remixed by The ABHORRED & mastered @ MNK Studios, by Milton Kyvernits in Dubai, U.A.E
