Cinema, Literature, Philosophy, Art, Music, Good Stories, Reflections and Reminders of the Good things that life has to offer, Talented Artists who share their talents to this world, a good Liqueur, pot once in awhile, Genuine, Unpretentious, Patient and Passionate People. Spending time & integrating with similar yet different kinds of people. Single, indifferent, exploring what life has to offer, nihilistic yet optimistic, what a oxymoron... i am. A walking, talking contradiction. Trying to simplify and make things less complicated for myself. Just trying to be... to be __________ when I find the answer to that question, I'll let you know. Some quotes that I can relate with: "Truth, like light, blinds. Falsehood, on the contrary, is a beautiful twilight that enhances every object. " -Albert Camus- "Everything has been figured out, except how to live." -Jean-Paul Sartre- "Are you gonna bark all day, doggie, or are you gonna bite." -Mr. Blonde-
Symphonic Discordance (oxymoron I am)
This is a hard one because there are so many great films... Directors, so many...but if I need 2 choose for this forum. I like Kubrick because of his meticulous and eclectic diversity of the genres he's crafted his films for. The Contemporary 4d's:David Cronenberg, Lynch, Fincher, Gordon Green are making interesting films to me. Mickey Rourke films from the 80's("Rumble Fish","Year of the Dragon","Barfly","Angel Heart","Johnny Handsome") Takashi Miike for his prolific and hit' miss attitude. I loved "Gozu","Ichi the Killer","Happiness of the Katakuris", "Odishon" and I think "Box" is sublime... it really resonates after each viewing. I love films which are able to do that. I really like Lars Von Trier earlier work and the DOGMA95 Manifesto approach to making films as well. Filmmakers who like to break the rules and play with conventional rules and try to create something new. The look and stories told from the 70's cinema really leave an indeliable impact & impression today... to me. It was a truly great decade of cinema & left a gallery of revolutionary films. Most independent filmmakers who are out there doing something wonderful with film/DV and sharing their vision and voice. Those making their mark and leading ways by setting an examply by inspiration & opening doors 4 future upcoming filmmakers. Proving that you need to be persistent, patient but most importantly passionate about anything you pursue in life. There are no bad films only bad ideas which shouldn't have taken place... but no matter it's a long, laborious endeavor... Try making a film & you'll know. Film is a beautiful expressive language that works on so many different levels. I love this universal language, art medium, known as cinema.
