Band Members: Pete Phythian (vocals, thunderbass), Vini Taylor (drums), and Ade Seal (guitar) formed Johnny Spitfire in the summer of 2004. Initially conceived as an Englebert Humperdink tribute act*, the lads soon realized that they should stick with what they know and love best of all; ROCKNROLL!!!
Musically the band favour the no nonsense approach. Taking their lead from the likes of Motorhead, The Ramones, Black Sabbath, and AC/DC, (with a sprinkling of The Cramps, Gram Parsons, and 50s rocknroll for good measure), the music of Johnny Spitfire is a classic blend of powerhouse** guitar riffs, unrelenting rhythms, and impassioned vocals. As well as performing mainly their own compositions, the band have a convincing repertoire of covers (albeit usually played at 100 miles an hourthe only way they know how!).p
Johnny Spitfire may sound like the soundtrack to imminent Armageddon, they may even look like a bunch of c***s, but in truth they are nice boysand they love you all. p
