My name is Marci... a single mother of 2... one of which is autistic... my beautiful son Corben. I recently found out my son has autism so i'm still pretty new to this.
When I was told that my son had autism I felt as though my head was in a bubble. Almost not really fully understanding what was going on... I mean for awhile now I knew something was different about my son but I assumed something alot more minor... i suppose.
Unfortunately I knew nothing about autism... except what I saw on tv and in the movies. Believe me that doesn't count for anything... there's this whole world out there I was so blinded to.So I started this page for people like me.... parents (with or without autistic children) in search of answers for questions that they may have. Now I am no expert on this matter but I will help in anyway possible.I have not found alot of help in the state of Florida... as in other states like California but a friend did start me in the right direction. If you want to get your child tested and you are in Hillsborough/Polk county then this is a good start early-intervention.org
My son will be starting speech therapy next month and they also have alot of other services that are free of charge.
