Joan Sutherland

Joan's mother was a mezzo-soprano, and until she met her husband Joan thought she was as well. She was trained in bel-canto style, until she became the greatest coloratura soprano ever to have graced the stage. She and her husband also worked to revive and recreate great lost operatic roles including the extremely difficult Esclarmonde by Massenet.
