I'm a keyboardist in the Hollywood area. For the last several years, I've been on FRONTIERS RECORDS, ITALY and touring/recording with HARDLINE, ANGEL and ACCOMPLICE. Journey's guitarist Neal Schon was a special guest on our last HARDLINE II self-title release, which went #1 in sales at NEH Records. We were featured with a centerfold article and the back cover of BURRN Magazine Japan's largest rock magazine September 2002. We followed up with a Live DVD headling the GODS FESTIVAL in Bradford, England w/ Jeff Scott Soto. In 2003, I also joined 70's legendary group ANGEL who were on Casablanca Records with KISS and had worldwide notoriety with keyboardist Gregg Giuffria. I performed with ANGEL in Hollywood, San Francisco, Sacramento, Houston, Dallas, New Jersey, Louisiana, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, etc.+++++Today, I'm on tour with LITA FORD. I'm also working with Frank DiMino and Barry Brandtco-writing material for the new ANGEL cd and working on various projects that include playing keyboards on the new Lizzy Borden cd "Appointment with Death", Italian guitarist Alex De Rosso (Dokken) new cd 'King of Balance' with the track "Angel Don't Cry" by Toto. I also played keys on Croatian Guitarist Alen Brentini's new cd with the track Transexpress. I'm looking forward to releasing my debut keyboard record and instructional video soon. Hardline III keys are complete the cd will be released soon. I'm on three records with drummer Atma Anur (Richie Kotzen, Tony MacApline). Credits with other artists include Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin), Wayne Findlay (MSG, Vinnie Moore), Lizzy Borden, Chas West (Bohnam, Lynch Mob), Derek Sherinian (Billy Idol), Phil Soussan (Ozzy, Richie Kotzen), Tom Fletcher (Yes, Yngwie, Hilary Duff), Mark Zonder (Fates Warning),Terry Ilous (XYZ), Bobby Rock (Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Slaughter), T Lavitz (Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse), Doug McRoy (Boogie Knights), Simon Phillips (Toto), Joey Tafolla (Shrapnel Recording Artist, Tyrese)and Stu Hamm (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani), among many others. Highlight gigs include playing with Angel at the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany in front of 22,000 people and playing with Sebastian Bach at Z7 in Switzerland the summer of 2004. My Brother owns Hollywood's largest multi-music magazine called MEAN STREET MAGAZINE (www.meanstreet.com) and are celebrating our 19 year anniversary this year. No Doubt and KORN played at our first anniversary party back in 1989. I like playing chess, traveling to Europe (especially ITALY!!!), seeing Boogie Knights in Las Vegas and watching the Gracie family fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championships. I like to meet all kinds of people to interact with and have a good time. I don't like stressful people, stereotypes, and people who are just out for themselves. I do like musician/artist type people who are honest, considerate of others and our earth, and most importantly easy going. I hope you enjoy my page and continue supporting rock n' roll around the world!!!

My Interests

ANGEL is recognized as being one of the most influential seventies Hard Rock bands. ANGEL were unfortunate enough to have constantly lived in the deep shadow of their more esteemed label mates KISS, despite developing from a gargantuan Pomp Rock dream into an androgynous looking, slick Pop Metal product. Angel is a glam rock, heavy metal, and progressive rock band from Washington, DC, formed in the mid-70s. They were discovered by Kiss bass player Gene Simmons performing at a nightclub and were signed to Kiss’ record label Casablanca. Their image of dressing in all white was a deliberate contrast to Kiss, who wore black. Sometimes cited as the band that invented glam metal, Angel sported an androgynous image and elaborate stage sets. They were slammed by rock critics, and Frank Zappa ridiculed the all-male band’s female appearance in the song “Punky’s Whips.” Angel never achieved mass commercial success but acquired a following as a cult band. They made an appearance in the film Foxes and Frank Dimino sang “Seduce Me Tonight” on the Flashdance soundtrack. The seeds of ANGEL were undeniably sown the day the mother of a nine year old punk called Edwin Lionel Meadows was given a sound beating by his mother for having sneaked out of the family home against her wishes to go to see an ELVIS PRESLEY movie. But Rock n' Roll had bitten the kid family and friends knew as Punky and it wasn't long before this Maryland native had begun his own ascent to stardom by taking up the guitar and winding up in Washington DC's hip young things Punky teamed up with a Jazz influenced keyboard player from New Orleans by the name of Greg Giuffria. Meadows' liaison with Giuffria was short-lived. Seemingly Punky liked Greg but hated his group! Now in the early Seventies, Meadows teamed up with Washington DC native Mickey Jones to form DADDY WARBUCKS (said to be taken from the character in the hit musical 'Annie'), which was shortened soon after to the much easier to remember handle of BUX who became one of DC's biggest drawing attractions on the local club scene. Meadows teamed up with Giuffria once more and, with Jones in tow, set to work looking for a suitable vocalist and drummer to complete this new dream team. Since his previous liaison with Meadows, Giuffria had also had dealings with Capitol Records through his tenure with DAVID AND THE GIANTS. Rumors have always persisted that Giuffria recorded an album and a few singles with this outfit and that the band had also featured the legendary Tommy Aldridge on drums, but the skinbasher claims to have never worked with Giuffria until much, much later in his illustrious career. Of the first vocalists Meadows and Co auditioned for their new project was Boston born Frank Dimino, but he is often reported to have turned down the chance to join this fledgling new group on the basis that they only had: three half-assed songs. Another candidate at this juncture was Eric Saeger of DESTONY. Continuing the search for a frontman following Dimino's rebuff, the trio found themselves in a bar one night to check out someone's recommendation they chance upon an extremely impressive drummer who wiped the floor with the guy they were rehearsing with at the time. And, as irony would have it, Punky and Mickey knew him! Barry Brandt had never played with Meadows previously (although he had played drums for THE CHERRY PEOPLE following Punky's departure), but had been a part of Jones' pre-BUX mob MAX. Proof just how incestuous the DC club circuit was at the time, MAX had also boasted the talents of Frank Dimino who, upon discovering Brandt's recruitment enterprising quintet soon adopted ANGEL as a band name, inspired by the JIMI HENDRIX number of the same title.-Dave Reynolds. By early 1999, ANGEL's touring line up found Dimino, Brandt, Gebert and Randy Gregg THIN LIZZY and DEE SNYDER joined by new recruit former LILLIAN AXE and NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE guitarist Steve Blaze. They co-headlined the Sweden Rock Festival in 2001. As live activity increased the band line-up was set to change. Keyboard player Michael T. Ross of HARDLINE and ACCOMPLICE would join the fold in November of 2003. ANGEL performed their first ever gig in Holland during June of 2004, rather oddly at a KISS convention where they were billed as 'Special guests'. They also performed at the 2004 Bang Your Head Festival in Germany in front of 25,000 people and were the supporting act for SEBASTIAN BACH at Z7 in Switzerland. They also played other various shows in the States such as the Dallas Hard Rock Café in 2005 and Club Vodka in Hollywood. Today, they are recording a new record with such title tracks as “The Fortress”, “Falling” and “Edge of Your Dreams” and are gearing up for more shows. Angel was quite influential in their own way—particularly on the glam metal boom of the 1980s—and represent a kind of missing link between keyboard-driven hard rock bands of the ’70s such as Uriah Heep and ’80s acts like Poison. Johnny and Joey Gioeli, born in 1965 and 1967 in New York respectively, hit the Rock n' Roll trail in their hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Debuting in 1980 in the band KILLERHIT, the brothers, then going under the assumed names of Johnny Law and Jo-Jo Law and at that time playing vocals / drums and guitar respectively, teamed up with guitarist Christopher Paul and bassist Jay Scott King. This formative act hit the East Coast club circuit with an enormous amount of success, earning enough by 1987 to have purchased their own lighting rig, truck and a tour bus purchased from Jimmy Buffet. Re-locating to Hollywood, KILLERHIT hooked up with POISON's BRET MICHAELS. The singer gave them his then publicist Debra Rosner's number who instantly became the band's manager. Realizing the need for a full blown front man, Johnny vacated the drum stool for centre stage. Las Vegas native Derek Cava took his place behind the drum kit and soon after the band switched names to the more appropriate BRUNETTE. Gaining a small part playing a band called SMASH PALACE in the movie 'Smash, Crash And Burn', and having Dana Strum of VINNIE VINCENT'S INVASION and SLAUGHTER repute, produce their first, five track demo, BRUNETTE were swiftly becoming a hot act on the Los Angeles scene. But the elusive record deal always seemed to be out of reach. The Gioeli brothers split the band to team up with fabled JOURNEY and BAD ENGLISH guitarist NEAL SCHON, who had family connections, becoming their brother-in-law after his marriage to the Gioeli's sister, HARDLINE was formed. Schon brought his BAD ENGLISH colleague drummer Deen Castronovo with him and the line-up was completed by bassist Todd Jensen. The latter had begun his career in the Portland, Oregon melodic Rock outfit SEQUEL. Jensen also held association with MOVIE STAR (the group that spawned BLACK N' BLUE), AMERICAN MAN, HARLOW and had enjoyed a touring role with DAVID LEE ROTH on the 'A Little Ain't Enough' dates. The new look HARDLINE band played three shows in America opening for VAN HALEN in April 1992. Later that same year Jensen and Castronovo hooked up ex-FREE and BAD COMPANY vocalist PAUL RODGERS for tour work. Ex-HARDLINE member Todd Jensen appears on ex-KEEL , DAVID LEE ROTH and COLD SWEAT guitarist MARC FERRARI's 1996 solo album 'Guest List' and toured as part of ALICE COOPER's band during 1997. The Mike Slamer penned 'Dr. Love' was covered by the guitarist himself on the debut STEELHOUSE LANE album, 'Metallic Blue', in 1998. Schon's JOURNEY compatriot JONATHON CAIN contributes to the album on the songwriting front. Johnny Gioeli has also fronted German guitar hero AXEL RUDI PELL's band since 1998's 'Oceans Of Time' album. Castronovo, after a session for the heavyweight GEEZER project led by BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler, was reunited with Neal Schon in 1998 when the drummer replaced Steve Smith in JOURNEY who has remained in Journey since. Gioeli announced in late 2000 that HARDLINE had been reactivated with former TAMPLIN and JAG PANZER guitarist JOEY TAFOLLA taking Schon's position. Taking the drum position was none other than erstwhile NELSON and VINNIE VINCENT INVASION man Bob Rock. Johnny Gioeli would also make a guest appearance in 2001 donating lead vocal to the track 'Live And Learn' by Japanese guitarist JUN SENOUE for the Sega Dreamcast 'Sonic Adventure 2' game soundtrack. Meantime it would be learned that the HARDLINE song 'Love Leads The Way', originally included as a Japanese bonus cut for the 'Double Eclipse' album, would be covered on the debut album from fellow AORsters KHYMERA. Johnny Gioeli would also find time to session for ex-LION and BAD MOON RISING guitarist DOUG ALDRICH's 2001 solo work. As the next year passed, Joey Tafolla opted out of the band after co-writing new songs with Johnny, while Bobby Rock kept his drumming duties. In order to promote the 2002 comeback album, HARDLINE II, which included a guest session courtesy of NEAL SCHON on the Japanese bonus track called This Gift, HARDLINE signed with Frontiers Records Italy and brought on a new line-up change. Former guitarist for THE STORM Josh Ramos joined, as did veteran Pomp act ANGEL keyboardist Michael T. Ross. Then they announced an appearance headlining at the British AOR 'Gods' festival. A Live DVD was released on Frontiers Records of this show. Johnny Gioeli also came to attention outside of his priority band activities, portraying the character "Sultan Oddyfer" for a Daniele Liverani 2004 GENIUS outing 'In Search of The Little Prince'. That September HARDLINE entered the studio to cut a new album and HARDLINE II was born. In January 2005 the band made available rare archive recordings through their website including BRUNETTE demos and HARDLINE titles 'The Double Eclipse Demos' and 'Hardline - Live in Auburn Hills 1992', the latter recorded at a support to VAN HALEN. Both Joey and Johnny Gioeli were in the news again in May 2006, albeit for all the wrong reasons when a tooth whitening company the brothers owned, 'White Overnite', was investigated by unsatisfied customers. Reportedly the Los Angeles Better Business Bureau was receiving over 100 complaints a month about the business. Johnny has since released multiple records with Axel Rudi Pell and co-headlined the largest rock festivals in Europe. In 2007 both Johnny Gioeli and Michael T. Ross were featured on guitarist Sean Michael Clegg’s ACCOMPLICE album 'She's On Fire', with legendary Simon Phillips and Derek Sherinian as producers. Hardline III recording is slated to be completed in 2007. HARDLINE 2007 line up Vocals- Johnny Gioeli Guitar- Joey Gioeli Guitar- Josh Ramos Bass- Jaime Browne Keyboards- Michael T.
