About Me

Jonny Sculls wants to rock you out of this world- literally. Alongside his goals of releasing three albums and several music videos in the near future, Sculls plans on going down in history as the first musician to play rock n' roll music on the moon. Sculls is definitely a musician with his own ideals. He describes his writing as "creep core," a mix of creepy, dirty subjects, set with sweet love songs and beautiful melodies. This blending of the two has ensued in Sculls' lyrical satisfaction.
Sculls has always been a fan of The Cure and Depeche Mode, but also of Tom Waits and Guns N Roses and it's clear in his lyrics that the intensity that all these bands exude is similar to that of Sculls. His lyrics are as serve as a reflection of the many sides of his personality. His interest in music was first ignited when he saw Elvis perform on television for the first time when he was six. His mother and aunt were in mid sentence when the king came on the television. They immediately stopped what they were doing, dropped to their knees and began to bow to the King of Rock n Roll. Sculls was so taken aback by Presley's power and performance, that he started playing music shortly after this experience.
This San Francisco native has since moved south to Hollywood, California to pursue his artistic career. He has played at legendary venues such as Whiskey a Go Go, The Viper Room, and The Roxy. Sculls had recorded all his solo gigs, and discovered that at one performance, he could hear a hip-hop beat coming from a car outside the venue, in which he subconsciously played to. After watching the tape about 100 times, he thought, "This is it!!" Since then, "creep core" has dominated Sculls' writing. Sculls' believes that, "My unique blend of creepy acoustic songs mixed with electronic music is what sets me apart from other musicians."
After releasing several studio albums with other projects for fun, Sculls' is ecstatic to finally release his debut solo album which is due out in late fall of 2008. To his audiences and fans, Sculls says, "Whatever you are, be the best there is. If you're a liar, be the best liar there is. If you're a lover, be the best lover there is because doing anything half ass'd is pointless." His aspirations of playing rock music on the moon should give you some idea of his originality.
