Its in 2001 that Kaligare release their first album Oblique Horizon (Oblique Productions).Their musique is inspired by the cold wave and pop-noise scene, with a unique touch : dark on one side and bright on the other with a strong sence of rythm an melody and poetic lyrics.
Because of this originality the band got the attention of the american label FTC Records, who ask them to make a cover of The Cure on the tribute called Strange as angels (2003). The band played All cats are grey from the album Faith (1981).
The same year they released the second album Vitae (Oblique Productions) which follows the first album on the poetic felling that caracterises them. During this time the band worked with amnEsiac who created videos for the shows (available on www.kaligare.com).
With Vitae the band got strong on the french dark rock scene with many interviews on specialised magazines, Fanzines and webzines ( D-side, Elegy...)
The band also has a chapter on the book Carnets Noirs Tome 2( K-Inite edition) a true bible about this scene.
Theyve shared the stage with bands like : Interpol, Romain Humeau, Luke, Experience, Virago, Portobello Bones, Mendelson, Daran, Bell Oeil, Tue-Loup, A room with a view, Herein...
In 2005 FTC Records asked them to play for another tribute, this time, to David Bowie. Theyve recorded Look back in Anger from Lodger, on this double album will also appear bands like Arcade Fire or the Dresden Dolls.
The same year the bass player JB Salles collaborated on the Depeche Mode cover album Down to the Bone(DSA-2005) by Sylvain Chauveau.
In 2006 Kaligare is going to release their third album Galaxy Club, built for stage purposes, this record is more direct while keeping the original sound of the band. A travel into space with straight forward songs that will send them a step higher.
