Cortland ROCKS!

Can you believe how much Cortland ROCKS?!?!

About Me

I’m here to pull it all together- all the awesome talent, the fantastic people, and rockin’ vibes that’s swirling around Cortland, NY. You might not think that Cortland has much to offer when looking from the outside, driving by- does 281 really give anyone an accurate impression of Cortland? Not a chance. There’s MUSIC- lots of ORIGINAL MUSIC that ROCKS! Attend a Cortland Cooperative Venue show, a Main Street Music Series event, a show at The Blue Frog Coffeehouse, or a rock-n-roll extravaganza at Lucky’s and you will know that Cortland is full of seriously talented musicians. There’s ART- look around Main Street and you’ll see in the windows of the Beard Building, Mando Books, or on the walls at Lucky’s ORIGINAL ARTWORK that’s INCREDIBLE! Don’t forget Dowd Fine Arts Gallery on SUNY Cortland campus! There’s GOOD FOOD- authentic Lebanese cuisine at Pita Gourmet, Mexican at Garcia’s, scrumptious baked goods at Lisa’s Pane di Casa, locally roasted coffee at Coffee Mania!, sandwiches galore at the Deli Downtown, wings and more at Pontillo’s, hometown diners like AJ’s & Hyde’s, and the best pizza ever at A Pizza and More- DELICIOUS! And there’s so much more than this. There are GREAT BARS, many featuring regional microbrews as well as the old favorites, such as The Red Jug, Hairy Tony’s, Central City, Stone Lounge, the Tavern, Lucky’s, and many more. There are FUN FESTIVALS like the Celtic Fest, Pumpkin Festival, The Taste of Cortland, & the Cortland County Fair. There’s SUNY Cortland- ranked in the top 100 of master’s degree granting colleges and universities in the region by U.S. News & World Report. ALSO ranked (two years in a row) by Kiplinger’s magazine in it’s 100 Best Values in Public Colleges for 2008, a list of national institutions that combine "outstanding academic quality plus an affordable price tag." There’s GOOD PEOPLE- Cortland’s eclectic gathering of business owners, SUNY Cortlandites, country punks, transplants, and those born and bred in Cortland County’s hills- the Crown City has the kind of folks you want as friends. Community support and good vibes are where it’s at- and Cortland’s got lots of both. And all of this is JUST THE BEGINNING- there’s so much not listed here, some of it yet to be discovered. So check it out- if you look a little closer, you’ll see that Cortland ROCKS!
