Play the Music - Free your Soul!

About Me

I was born in Philadelphia, and moved to Atlanta at the age of 12... it was 1974, and southern rock was all over the airwaves, The Allman Brothers, Lynryd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, The Outlaws, Charlie Daniels... I had to get a guitar... so the parents bought me one at Sears... yeah... Sears!... a "toughskin" guitar?... it sure wasn't a Craftsman!... I tried and I tried to learn to play, but it just wasn't happening... it took me 10 more years before i finally found the right mix of passion and dedication, and a "real guitar"... to start putting it together... I went through many different styles of music, trying to find the sound I felt in my heart and heard in my head... I found it in the blues, r&b, soul and funk of the past... maybe it was hearing it on my grandparents radio when i was a kid, but it felt so familiar... as time went on I began to find more modern artists who drew their inspiration from that music as well, but they took it to new places... so I decided it was time to stop playing on my couch, and find some other players to make music with... as I began going out to play, I had to first get past my stage fright, (I still don't make eye contact while the music's playing...) and then things began to change... strange circumstance created a situation that made me change my whole approach to playing... So I became a full-time slide player... and so here I am today, trying to frequent the jams around Atlanta, and sit in with my friends... I've been blessed over the last few years to sit in and play with amazing musicians, and meet so many great and wonderful people... make new friends... all while pursuing my passion...
