About Me

Hello!

We like writing songs and then playing them at our rock concerts!

We are a four-piece Glasgow based band. email [email protected] if you want to send us something nice in an email.

also if you like you can email our friends at

[email protected]

for management, bookings and any other enquiries of a serious nature that may require a thoughtful response!

if you'd like to be on our mailing list, then send an email to [email protected] and we'll stick your name on the depressingly shallow list...

Sounds Like: from the 13th note gig listings:
"...we were promised jetpacks are astonishingly good – well, that makes it sound like I was expecting them to be gash, but anyway – 'quiet little voices' for example – it's a frenzy of instruments playing different things at the same time, really exciting and springy, slightly mad vocals and all the joy of people possessed by a moment and barely able to contain the emotions in a few minutes of a pop tune. The end of it suggests a UFO removing the band in a glare of white light and a pine-flattening gale..."

from the "live music highlights" preview of our cabaret voltaire rockshow on 30th march in the skinny:
"[...] With an impeccable grab bag of influences and a miraculously accessible romantic sensibility that sidesteps the vomit bag..."

also, the tremendous stu mchugh in the list magazine:
"The phrase 'guitar band' covers a multitude of sinners in the pop battleground. We Were Promised Jetpacks, apart from having the best name in showbiz, meet all other requirements necessary to lift them above their peers. Their live sets rip along at breakneck pace but somehow deliver a mini-anthem in every tune, merging Postcard and C86 jangle with full-on alt.rock."

that's all very nice, but we are not a dictatorship. it is only fair we show you that we are also not very good.

so here's something from lickmag.com...

"Hailing from Stirling, the starry-eyed sophomores were clearly deluded, attempting to juxtapose their varied but admirable musical influences with a sound that was as dispiriting as their city. If front man Adam Thompson tried as hard with his vocals as he did with his hair then they would at least have reached the starting block."

so there. ahh if only he practiced singing more.
Wow! we are from stirling!
