Year 2002
Futhark is a folk metal band that started as a project at the end of February of the year 2002 under the name of "Stormblast" with the principle ideology of celtic, viking and pagan mythologies with a touch of norse black metal creating a different kind of metal ever done in Colombia, by that time we beging with the rehearsals and creation of hymns following the line of bands such as Cruachan, Isengard, Bathory, Manowar, Ragnarok (UK), Dimmu Borgir (For All Tid, St�rmblast), Burzum, Storm and some other... the name Stormblast was changed to Futhark, because we gotto know that there were some other bands using that name.
In September 12 of the 2002 we recorded a reh-demo containing 6 songs at Jimmy Hendrix rehearsing studios, everysingle one with very diferent structures, folk rythms and pagan lyrics.
In September 14 of 2002, we had our first live show at Antagon bar in Girardota Antioquia with the bands Martyr (Death Metal), The Army Pentagram (Black Metal) and Lagash (Black Metal).
In October we recorded at Nebulosa Producciones the Promo CD 2002, contaning the first two tracks composed by the band; both recordings the reh-demo and the promo CD have the same name: "Rebirth of the Pagan Pride".
Later between the months of October and November of 2002 we shoted and edited images for the videos of the tracks in the promo CD, this was done in locations such as Guarne and Las Palmas, plus images of the recording sessions at Nebuloza Producciones and Jimmy Hendrix rehearsing studios, the tracks are:

Year 2003
January: The song Rebirth of the Pagan Pride from the promo CD was included in the compilation Anthems of War by Sabbath Productions, recording that has been issued at the end of February 2003.
February: The line-up changed and Apeiron left the band by personal reasons.
March: Loki enter the band as second guitar.
March: Wottan enter the band to play the bass guitar, but after a few months he left the band by personal reasons and he got replaced by Leprechaun.
June: Black Fairy comes to form part of the line up to play the keyboards.
October: New songs were composed an the past October 18 we had our second live show in a location called "placa polideportiva de la urbanizaci�n La Nubia". In this show we played the songs that we are recording for our first album at Nebuloza Producciones.
Blackfairy left the band for lack of time and personal differences with some of the band memebers and also for lack of interest on the band so on the new recording, the keyboards will be played by Vintertyr and Thorhammer.
Leprechaun leaves the band for personal reasons, because he left to the United states to live there and also same as Black Fairy, because of lack of interest on the band, so, the bass guitar will be played in the Debut CD recording by Alvaro �lvarez, Masacre's bass player, who is at the same time the sound/recording engineer and owner of Nebulosa Producciones.
Our purpose is to form and mantain a band that can be known in the world, show that the ancient pagan wisdom is universal without refusing our multiracial colombian roots. Make stronger our folk scene and try to unite the small circle of folk fans in our land by our music.
Year 2004
In the first six months of the year, the band has been quite on stand by, but still rehearsing and composing new songs, now they are planning to record an extra track for their debut album called For The Glory of Vinnland, wich they hope it will be released by the end of this year.
Some band members have changed their name or they have corrected them, now the Line Up is:
Gusthav - Guitar and Voice
Vintertyr Odensson - Voice
Tristan Vintersson - Drums and Voice
Sigurd - Guitar
Now the band is resolving the problem of the Bass player and the Keyboards abscence, they are Thinking on including Adriana Garc�a (Vocalist of Draconian) on the Keyboards and start auditioning for bass players.
As for new recordings, the band is composing two new songs to record them in rehearsal style with Past Member Juan Camilo Barrera (Ex-Bassist of Eternal) playing the Bass.
Second semester of 2004:
The band has a gig programmed for november 14 in Valhala bar with the band Trinheim, also the apperiang of the band on a national metal bands compilation called True Metal Subvesrion in its third episode is programmed, and hopefully for the end of this year the CD debut of the band wich will be called "For the Glory of Vinnland" will be released.

Fresh news of the band:Saturday, January 14th 2256 (Runic Era):- We had an excellent live show the last Sunday, January 8th, aside the RAC bands called "Orgullo Nacional" and "�ltima Advertencia", Juan Camilo Barrera "DragonRouge" (Ex-Bassist) joined us at teh show, now the response of the public was great, and because of this we are expecting to be reviewd in some european zines.- Loki is out of the band, futhark is now seeking for a new guitar player.
-2006: The band has been working hard in new songs with a more melodic sound, and a more folkish musical structure, the old raw sound of the band has not been lost fully, but the style has changed for a bit not leaving behind the genre they belong to, wich is Heathen metal. at the moment many proposals from Germany and spain are being worked out and we..re looking forward to appear in some european compilations and the further release of the album by a german label.
