About Me

MyGen Profile Generator .. width="425" height="350"
Honouring the Old Norse culture, history, tradition and lore, Nifelhel was created in late 2004 by Ben Corkhill. With the sole intention of creating his vision of Nordic metal, Ben began writing material for a short release "Upon the Blood of Ymir". The end result was poor and was never actually released. Instead, Ben learned from his mistakes and in 2005 "Call of the Gods" was written, recorded and released. It was met with success, Nifelhel building its name on the internet community as well as through CD sales.
Several ideas came up for a second release, including an instrumental album based on the epic Beowulf. However, after listening over the first demo, Ben decided to work on improving the epic sound and effect "Upon the Blood.." had failed to deliver the first time round. The result is a brand new soundscape and a new direction of performance and composition for Nifelhel. "Upon the Blood of Ymir" is expected to be released around August 2006.
