When I first put on this CD, I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. After I was 1/2 way through listening to it, I am excited to say that I still had the same question. It is really refreshing to see a CD that mixes up the genres so much. it’s easy to see why this CD has caught the ears of DJ’s from King Britt to Carl Cox.

"It's satisfying to see a US based label starting to veer out of the normal “US” sound, and with so many different genres to cover. This label is definitely one to look forward to this year if these tracks have anything to say about it.

For its first CD, Playloop mixed a few new bits with its top releases for a collection with many flavors. With Kezner's guitar-washed downtempo, Microstar's deep house, Tattoo Detectives' peak hour bangers and a bit of proto-trance from Locality, it's a diverse assemblage of sounds and structures found throughout. There are time-stretched samples on TD's “il salto fuori” and Nigel Richards' aptly named “Acid Reflux,” and label boss Justin Paul shows a range of styles, including the tech-house edge of “Red Shift.” —

"The epic-sounding One Foot On The Moon, which starts like the perfect backdrop to the opening credits of a Hollywood blockbuster, but has a conclusion that makes it perfect for the closing credits too. Techno bloody techno at its progressive best.
Justin Paul has some solid minimal techno grooves in Red Shift – a track that has recently featured on Carl Cox’s ‘Global Sessions’ show; not surprisingly, this track has got serious legs and the subtlety on the off-beat shuffle is a pleasure to listen to.

Justin Paul Short Bio
In the world of electronic music, you know you’re on to something good when legendary Philly DJ/producer King Britt says your label “is putting Philadelphia back on the map.” The label King Britt was referring to is Playloop Records; founded in 2006 by DJ/producer Justin Paul.
The music industry of 2008 is a Savage Beast. There has never been a time where being a musician or running a record label has been more difficult that in the present. This is a transitional period where new forms of music distribution (digital) are supplanting the tried and true methods (record stores) of years past. In the end, it will be the musicians and labels that identify with and understand what the fans want, who will find the most success.
Justin Paul has the type of character and drive that melds with this future music industry. His live DJ sets and Playloop label has already drawn critical praise from some of the most respected DJs and producers in the world. His labels releases are amongst the highest-selling tracks on a number of popular online download destinations. While he does have a good ear for quality tunes, Justin Paul is more than just an A&R man. He’s involved with every step of the processes that surround the Playloop brand – from conception of art and design to sales and marketing.
In short order Justin Paul has amassed quite a roster for his label. Playloop artists represent a wide range of genres from electronica, house, techno, deep house, progressive, electro and downtempo. Artists like Dave Hughes, Microstar, Ross D, DJ Everyday, The Model, Nigel Richards, Lee Mayjahs?, Taurus & Vaggeli, Locality and Tattoo Detectives bring a unique style to the global dancefloor, while Kezner is in the business of making jaw-dropping downtempo bombs.
In the Spring of 2008, Playloop will release a steady flow of digital 12-inches and LPs from their talented artist roster. New releases from Ross D, Dave Hughes, The Model and Microstar. Look out for Justin Paul & the Playloop Crew out on the road promoting the "Get Into The Loop Vol. 1 & 2" (CD and Digital Album out now). Get Into The Loop Vol. 1 is the first in a series of yearly Playloop Records label compilations to feature the hottest Playloop tracks in original, unmixed format. This inaugural release will feature all the Playloop tracks currently making waves around the world!
