About Me

Photo by Maarten van Loosbroek (2001)
Twang was first formed by Robert van der V. and Hans van A., somewhere around 1999. Both guitarplayers decided that they wanted to make instrumental music. They were in the psychedelic band the City Beat Fountains from 1987 until 1989. The passion for instrumental music goes back a long way. When Robert first met Hans in 1984, he was already making 'Shadows Soundscapes' with his 4-track Tascam Compact Cassette recorder. Robert bought his first surf records in the mid-eighties.
In May 2001 Robert made Twang and Twang Records trademarks of his company Lab 4. This wasn't really understood by the other bandmembers, although they were quite pleased with the resources. Madness struck the band when Robert got into trouble combining his designwork with playing in the band. We tried to reanimate it by raising a foundation in 2004, but Robert's leadership had lost its credibility for a while...
At the end of 2005 the band Glasco Turnpike started out. Robert decided that singing was what he longed for and moved on with some of the musicians who took part in the Twang Thang.
Live in the old Effenaar on 11/22/2002. One bandmember looks like he's not there.
