Mama Lisa first came onto the scene in the late 80's brining a new dynamic & flavour, yet to be surpassed by any Lady in the R&B/Funk scene in Melbourne.

Lisa started out dancing and working with the formidable dance troupe "The Dance" lead by her mentor Roger Joel. Lisa was an influencial and integral part of the Doowatchalike brand lead by Mr. Joel which encompassed the very best in Clubs, Dance, Fashion shows, MC'ing & the like.

Lisa's first love has always been music and in a time where internet was many years away, the only way to find out or hear about new R&B, Funk or Hip Hop artists or tracks was through the clubs or select radio shows on stations like 3RRR & 3PBS. It's always been a passion for her to get into Audio Engineering, Radio Announcing or Audio for TV or Film.

Through the clubs and scene Lisa met DJC who was a well respected Club DJ & Radio Announcer. Knowing the passion Lisa had for Audio & her larger than life personality, DJC invited Lisa down to his radio show on PBSFM. Within no time, Lisa was on air and co hosting DJC's "Jammin" show! DJC's on air and off air nick name for Lisa was Mama. Little did he know that he was setting up a name for her that would stay with her until this day & would be very influencial & recognisable to the Music scene in Melbourne. Hence the personality Mama Lisa was born.

Soon after, Mama found a new home on PBS with the Legendary Melbourne DJ & Radio Announcer Wayne Fernandes. Wayne's contribution to the scene in Melbourne is one that many would spend years trying to live up to. He was one of the original people responsible for bringing out some of the biggest names in the R&B & Hip Hop world to tour here in Australia, interviewing just about everyone that genre had to offer, was running extremely successful club nights, & having the most successful R&B & Hip Hop radio show to ever grace Melbourne's airwaves – WKD (where hip hop rules the world!).

Mama Lisa joined WKD & spent 8 wonderful years on PBS & 3 years on KISSFM.

WKD set the boundaries and standards of what R&B and Hip Hop music was all about in the early to late 90's. WKD won many acalaids & awards, had a feature in Rolling Stone Magazine, but the most prestegous recognition came when WKD was voted in a Sain Magazine readers poll as the number 1 radio show in Australia. WKD beat Ugly Phil's National Hot 30 radio programme on the 2Day FM Network & WKD was only broadcasted to the inner city of Melbourne.

Mama Lisa remembers "I remember I answered the phone one night and Jackie O introduced herself and said that Phil wanted to congratulate us for beating him in the poll. He loved what we were doing and was always very supportive. We went live on each other's radio show… and lets just say it was a lot of fun. That time.. and being featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, was one of those moments Ill never forget. Even though WKD finished in 1998, I still get people come up to me at least once a week telling me how much they loved WKD and how influencial it was to their lives. It was an inspiring time working with someone like Wayne and the crazy Andrew Pinto. I'll never forget it."

During working on WKD, Mama Lisa was heavily involved with interviewing some of the biggest names in the world for the show, and working with Wayne on the tours he brought to Australia including K-Ci & Jo Jo, Horace Brown & Wrex n' Effect to name a few.

Mama Lisa had DJ'ing Residency's at some of Melbourne's Biggest clubs including Chasers, Chevron, Cadillac Bar and guest spots at Melbourne Metro nightclub.

When WKD ended, Mama Lisa took a well earned break from the scene for a few years. After a few years away and missing the music and all that was the R&B/Hip Hop Scene, Mama Lisa decided to go back to the scene that had been so good to her… but this time, only as an observer and a keen and respected supporter of all Melbourne Music.

Mama Lisa met Mr. Adrian Charlott. Adrian is a successful Tour & Club promoter and Lisa started attending his ground breaking R&B night, Brooklyn at The Next Blue in Melbourne. Currently running the long standing & successful club night "Playground" at seven nightclub, Adrian is solely responsible for influencing Lisa back into the scene and insisted she jumped online and join a website called grooveon.

MamaLisa joined www.grooveon.com.au and her rebirth into the world of R&B and Hip Hop was complete. It was there that Mr. Jon Lim gave Lisa the opportunity to be a creative journalist and writer for his site. Mama Lisa's support of the local music scene created articles with local acts Daniel Merriweather and JWESS, which were the beginning to a long and successful relationship with grooveon, whom she considers her R&B and Hip Hop family.

Through Mr Lim's confidence and Mama's expertise in the industry, grooveon gave MamaLisa an opportunity to give back to the community by providing honest and informative interviews and reviews with some of the biggest artists in Australia and the world.

Its during this time that Mama Lisa joined the largest selling newspaper in Australia – The Herald Sun. Mama Lisa was doing it all! From advertising to writing editorials to Red carpet interviews & from Layout to Account Management. It was at the Herald Sun that Mama's musical and professional expertise would see her win awards for "Best new business win", "Best Team work" & "Best Business Achievement" in the Gig Guide and Entertainment categories of the biggest selling newspaper in Australia.

Mama Lisa is again taking a well earned break from the scene but is regularly consulted about the music industry, tours & club promotions and happy to offer her support and expertise in any way she can. She is helping out bringing some amazing tours from overseas, Has dabbled in managing an Australian Idol contestant and other dance & r&B artists and She is on a personal mission of health achieving a weight loss in the year 2006 of over 160 pounds.

Mama Lisa continues to go from strength to strength and in an ever changing and technological world her advise is "Be yourself, don't underestimate the power of being genuine."
