Bryan's Bio
As lead singer for Color Me Badd, Bryan Abrams was the voice and the creative drive behind the hits of Color Me Badd. Founded in 1990 by N.W. Classen High School (Oklahoma City) friends Bryan Abrams, Mark Calderon, Sam Watters, and Kevin Thornton, Color Me Badd was one of the most successful acts of the nineties, and was the first band to combine four-part harmonies and hip-hop music. They inspired an entire generation of "boy bands" such as NSYNC, 98 Degrees, and the Backstreet Boys. Color Me Badd's debut album sold over 8 million copies and produced three number one singles (I Adore Mi Amor, All 4 Love, and I Wanna Sex You Up). Over the next seven years they had eight singles in the top twenty and twelve songs on the Billboard charts, sold over 12 million records, and headlined sold-out concert tours worldwide.
Color Me Badd appeared on such top-rated TV programs as the Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, In Living Color, Beverly Hills 90210, Good Morning America, The Today Show, and Oprah, had songs on 4 major movie soundtracks, earned two Grammy nominations and won an American Music Award as Best New Artist in 1991. They were inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2000, and a greatest hits album was released in 2001.
After a lengthy hiatus, Bryan began to pursue his own career in earnest, touring both as a solo performing artist and with the "Boys of Summer Tour" in 2006. After Hurricane Katrina devastated the gulf coast in September of 2005, Bryan joined Jordan Knight (New Kids on the Block), Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees), C-Note, Aaron Carter, and Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) in a Florida studio to record Believe, a song that aided storm victims.
A prolific songwriter, Bryan has spent hundreds of hours in the recording studio writing and recording songs for an upcoming solo album, and has been busy writing and producing songs (along with co-producer Hamza Lee) for several major and up-and-coming recording artists. He has been signed to appear, along with Jeff Timmons (from 98 Degrees), Chris Kirkpatrick (from NSYNC), and Rich Cronin (from LFO), in VH1's new series, titled "Mission: Manband," which was filmed in February of 2007, and is scheduled to air in July of this year.
Abrams also signed a contract with TogiEntertainment to co-write his autobiography, along with Mark Faulk. They have already begun work on the book, which will tell Bryan's story before, during, and after the Color Me Badd years. Bryan Abrams: From Badd to Blessed, is scheduled for worldwide publication in July of 2007, to coincide with the VH1 series. Bryan and Kim Abrams are expecting their second child later this year, and 2007 looks to be a productive and busy year as Bryan re-establishes himself as a major solo artist and writer/producer.
