The Balarcafe project was established in the summer 2007 as a result of the meeting of four people passionate for music and especially for flamenco. Flamenco is a music style which has its roots in Andalusia, Spain, and from here it has been expanding slowly throughout the world. Flamenco starts as singing and by the time dancing and guitar come to accompany the voice.
In last years various musical instruments have joined on flamenco, e.g. the cajón, percussion of Peru origin, the bass guitar, the drum, the piano, the keyboard etc.
It has been already a long time when the guitar and the dancing evolution made the way for a radical change in this music history of flamenco, which meant, compared to the history, that the presence of the voice was subsequently diminishing, and e.g. the guitar passed from the support instrument (for the singing) to the solo instrument.
Nowadays it is possible to see performances that are based only on the fascination and the atractivity of flamenco dancing.
Maybe the destiny of flamenco, as an international music style, has been written already, as it happened to Blues and Jazz, and for this reason it is possible today to listen to artists that are not Andalusian or gipsies (gitanos) who express their way of art in very original and peculiar language.
We can say that a power of the expresion of flamenco music did not have and still does not have any prejudice or preconception that could inhibit mix or take inspiration from other music styles, that means that flamenco is a free and live music, continually developing.
Themes of the musical Balarcafe Project were composed by DarÃo Piga, (www.myspace.com/dariupiga), while the dance composition is a piece of Anna Fiori.
Other members of the band bring good suggestions and ideas which give to this project special and harmonic shine. A sufficently elastic structure makes possible, due to circunstances, to add other instruments, including the voice.
The only aim of this project - we believe - is to create nothing more than beauty!
