RUBICKS - IN MINIATURE
An album of angelic voices and demonic rhythms, sweet tunes and vicious electronic throbs . . . The sweep of Midas - charming but weirdly unstable - suggests that they may have the golden touch. Uncut
Some pretty fantastic pop from Rubicks. In Miniature is a total sugar rush from start to finish, like one of those giant gobstoppers that keeps on giving as you suck off each layer. Vice Magazine
Rubicks fantastic ability to synthesize the pop pout of Blondie, the chilled machine thrum of Goldfrapp and the rock sensibilities of the Pixies into one late night, last-dance swirl of cheap lipstick and perfume probably deserves better than the Album pages . . . NME
Dazzling pop . . . Throughout the album, the just-below-the-radar synth lines are a delight, while Vanessa Redds voice (equal parts Clare Grogan, Debbie Harry and Siouxsie) is a great pop instrument. The Sunday Times
Their ability to channel Debbie Harry, Air and Derrick May without sounding like any of them, gives the album a timeless feel. Give this album a chance and Rubicks might well be your favourite album by the end of the summer. Disorder Magazine
An album of dark, sweet melodies - at different points My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins and Clor. Flux Magazine
In Miniature radiates vibrancy, leaving a warm afterglow that wills the listener to bask in the sounds of the summer. Rocksound
A beautifully produced album . . . Dizzy electro-pop with shades of Goldfrapp, Blondie and at a stretch Air and Siouxsie Sioux. Independent On Sunday
Definitely ones to watch . . . Bright, plastic and genre-defying. The Fly
Fronted by the luscious, commanding tones of Vanessa Redd, they have a real star in waiting. New single Midas jets along on its own cool delivery before detonating a killer pop chorus and the use of a girl choir is a masterstroke. Clash Magazine
A great slice of retro-electro pop . . . Its hard to keep up with all of the influences here but like Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs, theyve taken those elements and twisted them into something new. If you take into account Rubicks amazingly catchy hooks, it would be a brave person to bet against them achieving at least a small percentage of those bands successes. Future Music
In Miniature rattles along admirably, not least when guitarist Mark Makarov embarks on one of his more tangential moments. Best tracks are I See You, Popmobility and Wish You Were. Q Magazine
The album is full of wonderful electronic blips and beeps and synthed up bubble gum melodies which all add to Rubickss charm. Fused Magazine
