BACKSTORY
THE LIFE AND DEATH was formed in London, UK, in 2007 by Justin Buckley. Having already made a mark on London's alternative independent scene with bands like Betty and playing rhythm guitar with glam punks Drill Queen, Justin is now the writer and front man of THE LIFE AND DEATH.
SOUND
THE LIFE AND DEATH sound is a meeting of two passions - very loud guitars and (albeit darkly) catchy pop songs. The resulting sound, then, is massive but direct, dark but accessible, connected, real, modern and forward-looking. The recordings feature a carefully balanced pop production but with a brutal rawness that always lies behind. Like the Ramones meets Drugstore meets Joy Division meets Ronnie Spector meets Arab Strap meets Fugazi, if you like. In no way, though, does it ever meet the Kaiser Chiefs or Razorlight or the Killers.
