When I was a kid my mother made us lie on the floor looking at the ceiling (she's an artist) and listen to the new ABBEY ROAD album. I thought I hallucinated being underwater with my brother on the Persian carpet at Stanford. As an 8 year old in North Carolina, I thought I'd have to become a country western singer to survive to adulthood. As a teenager in Washington, D.C., I loved the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Dan Fogelberg (incidently board member of Wyland Foundation!), Carly Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Queen, Jethro Tull, Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin,... Growing up I heard NPR non-stop in my house, so I can't listen to it anymore. I also danced to all the music that they make ballerina's dance to in ballet class which is still lodged in my brain somewhere. Today, I want to go to some hole in the wall and hear the best music in town and/or hang out at Diamond Head Studio and sing along (unmiced, of course). Who do I enjoy musically? My brother: Donald.
