About Me

I was born so far up a holler they had to pipe daylight in. I could overhaul a chevy engine by the time I was 12. Helped my Dad drilling gas wells. Went into the army when I turned 18. Became a pilot at 20. I have been flying military cockpits for 65 years. I also fly civilian and de-comissioned military airplanes.I just flew the F-16 and broke the sound barrier again at Edwards AFB on Sept 21, 2007 commemmorating the 60th anniversary of breaking the sound barrier (Oct 14), the 60th anniversary of the USAF (Sept 18), and 65 years of my flying military cockpits. Gen Joe Engle (X-15 pilot, Shuttle Commander twice) flew my wing and also broke the sound barrier. It was a great celebration. Why did I risk my neck in 4 wars, fighting for the freedoms all Americans enjoy today? Why did I risk my neck to become the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound? Duty. www.chuckyeager.comc. GCYI
