Matt Shamblin
Hard rock artist Matt Shamblin writes and performs music that seems as though it was crafted from pure energy. The riffs and rhythms mix and mingle in a feisty surge and flow of pulsing energy that strikes right at the heart of listeners, getting them out of their chairs and their fists in the air. Shamblin’s songs reveal originality and intelligence and punches with muscular musical strength.
Energy
Energy is a key element of rock and metal and that is most certainly true of Matt Shamblin. “Music makes me feel alive. I feel energetic and excited with it.” And it’s hard not to get excited about Shamblin’s music. It’s got the mien of great rock and is infectious in its ability to transfer Shamblin’s own excitement into the listener, allowing the fan to come alive as well in a symbiotic artist-listener tie.
Deep
Shamblin’s relationship with music is deep. He’s a person that puts a lot of thought into music and a lot of heart into his songwriting. “I made a list of ten adjectives that I use to help me create some of my materials. The adjectives that I feel best describe music are: heavy, driving, melodic, dark, moving, hooky, reflective, angry, hopeful, energetic.” It’s a big span of emotions but that’s exactly the kind of compositional input that makes a song great by making it a tune that can hit people on multiple levels.
Entity
Shamblin sees music as something alive. And he affords it the proper respect and it in turn yields its power to him as an artist capable of shaping music’s raw power into a focused form – a song, one that will get fans pumped. “I feel that every piece of music is a living, breathing entity that resides within each one of us.” And the better the songwriting, the more people can relate to it, the longer that song will live. “If you want the music to be something that will exist long after you cease to be, you can’t just hammer out some voice leading diatonic chord progression. After all, music is a direct reflection of the soul of man (the mind, the will and the emotions).” Shamblin is an artist whose songs will live long and reach many.
Shadow Memories
Shamblin appeared on a compilation titled “This Is Kaos” in 2005 and in 2007 the world will see the release of a full-length – “Shadow Memories” – from Shamblin. A national “Dark Encounters” tour to support the CD is planned. “It’s very thematic and edgy. Three segments of the show will have video synced with dialogue that gets inside the head of a serial killer from his own unique perspective.” Shamblin is currently working with A&R Select, the leading independent A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
