Moistmaker was formed in 2004 when Jude joined Sami, Axa, Hege and Lilli to the band, then without a name, as a singer. After a year of rehearsing and writing songs, the group of five named themselves Grooving Target and entered the studio to record their first demo in May 2005.
The demo consisted of five songs (Bitchin' Switch, The Captain, Undone, Cautious Love and Everything's Gone). It was sent to a bunch of record companies, radio stations, music magazines and websites, receiving mixed feedback. Some people liked it, some didn't, but most of the reviews noticed the potential of the band. In late 2006, Bitchin' Switch was chosen "demo of the week" by Finnish radio station YleX and it got some radio play.
In November 2006 Lilli and the band parted ways, but a new bassist was found soon after. Samu joined the group in December, right before the first proper Grooving Target gig, which was played on the 27th of January 2007 to a surprisingly large crowd. After the gig, the band changed their name to Moistmaker.
Moistmaker has since played three gigs and recorded another demo, which is still in mixing stage. Three or four of the six songs recorded (Kick Kelly, Save Me, Swing Low, The Other Side, A Right Turn and Oidipus) will make their way to the actual demo which will be put together in the near future. After that it's all promoting the new stuff, playing lots of live shows and hopefully catching people's attention.
