C*Bob is a young singer-songwriter from Leicester, England who has not only called his band but also dubbed his music the “Sunshine Blues’’ - fresh, upbeat, feel-good vibes that ooze a sense of long summer days spent chilling with friends and a cold beer. Via word of mouth, tireless self-promotion and use of web resources such as MySpace, hundreds of people worldwide are now Checkin’ the C and relaxing to the Sunny B sound.
Starting in the local venues of Leicester, the past year saw C*Bob go global with his self recorded and produced debut EP Ride The Waves (July ’05), selling over 500 copies worldwide as the Sunshine Blues proved itself to be a universal language. It wasn’t just the fans that raved about Ride The Waves, either: record company Matchbox Recordings called the EP "incredible...great genuine, bluesy, rock 'n' roll" and released the song People People on a compilation album in February 06. Tim Oliver of Future Music Magazine also said "exceptionally well recorded and a great, catchy song. This could do a storm in today's climate" To top it off, C found himself playing at the Big Session Festival alongside Nizlopi, Seth Lakeman, The Levellers, all on the strength of the EP.
In 2006, C*Bob released his second record titled My Time In The Sun (July ’06) which not only proved itself to be as popular as Ride The Waves with huge pre release interest, but also landed him airplay on London’s Xfm and Manchester’s BBC radio stations. Like Ride The Waves, all songs on My Time In The Sun were either written or co-written by C*Bob. However this time round, the rest of the band had creative input from day one resulting in a joyous, freewheeling slice of summer blues that delights and surprises with hints of hip-hop and folk grooves coming to the fore.
Now, with nearly 1000 units shifted to date and over 50 shows performed in 2006 alone, on 19th February 2007, C*Bob released his 3rd helping of ‘Sunshine Blues’ titled Into The Cold. Releasing his first single ‘Let Me Know’ from the 6 track record as a free download, it wasn't only C*Bob’s way of saying thank you to all the people that have supported him so far, but as a way of reaching out and asking more and more people worldwide – are you Checkin’ the C?
