About Me

This indie-pop band was originally formed in the summer of 2003 in Los Angeles, California, when guitarist Leslie Stoddard and bass player Kelley Duarte were introduced to singer Katie Morgan as she was promoting her album Pink Cloud. Stylistically it was a perfect fit and Gia’s Fix emerged upon the local music scene. Risking the all-girl band hype, they combine catchy melodies with impressive guitar riffs while still taking chances and using their musicianship to explore the darker, more introspective side of their indie-pop sound. With their Raw energy and commanding yet playfully seductive stage performance; the audiences alike could not help but take notice and promoters responded by soon catapulting Gia’s Fix to the next level. While putting the finishing touches on Raw, their first release, they were listed in Music Connection’s top 100 unsigned bands. The Los Angeles Music Awards soon nominated the record for best indie-pop album. Toyota notified the band and used Gia’s Fix in their national ad campaign. It was a two- page spread that appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, People and Us magazines. They started receiving thousands of hits daily on their website. KXLU brought the band into the radio station to perform a live concert on their program Livation. Boston’s radio station WMBR added the cut 100 miles to their playlist. Squash radio used the band to launch their web station. Guitar Player magazine did a feature on Leslie Stoddard stating that "Done, is a grooving, strutting fuzz fest of pop-rock genius." Farnell guitars placed a custom made guitar into Leslie’s hands and asked the band to appear at the 2005 NAMM show at the Anaheim Convention Center. Most recently you can read a live review in the Music Connection issue No. 24. Bob Leggett of Music Connection says, " Gia’s Fix is the total package- hot pop-rock songs that exude sexuality and ooze with desire." You can also catch an album review in Live magazine. It has been a remarkable year and a half. Although modest about their musical training Gia’s Fix is composed of a group of very accomplished musicians. Vocalist, Katie Morgan began classical voice training at a young age; her voice and enthusiasm landed her some prestigious roles in musical theatre. She made the transition from opera to rock and left the cold winters of New York City. Katie came out to California where she could search for musicians who shared her vibrant rebellious energy. Bassist, Kelley Duarte a schooled bassist has studied at The Faunt School of Creative Music. She was nominated and received an award for Best Female Bass Player from Rock City News. Guitarist, Leslie Stoddard came from a musical family and studied briefly at Berklee College of Music and was honored with the award for Best Female Guitarist award by The Los Angeles Music Awards. Gia’s Fix cites a rare synergy for their early success. Filling well known Southern California clubs like The Viper Room, The Roxy, 14 Below, The Galaxy, and Martini Blues they continue to perform throughout Los Angeles, Orange County as well as nationally. The buzz surrounding Gia’s Fix comes as no surprise to those who have seen them live. Singing songs about sex, relationships, loss and new- found beginnings, Katie’s vocals are full and encompassing. Her vocal style is intriguingly indefinite; with comparisons ranging from Faith Hill to Sheryl Crow to Janis Joplin. Just when you think you’ve got her pegged as a lovesick naïf, she’ll easily turn into a tough as nails rocker. Gia’s Fix style can be described as modern pop with a lot of rock-n-roll energy. The audience can always expect a high energy and high impact performance that is entertaining and filled with excitement. You’ll definitely get your fix.
