After sifting through the crumbled remains of Ventura's not so existant music scene, " I was a lover Delorean was a dealer " was formed. A brilliant three piece band that has focused on simplicity and getting the most out of three musicians as possible. I was a lover is not trying to invent anything, but they strive to be different and bring some creativity and originality to the table. The band is Chris Perez - Keyboards/synth, Justin Dempsey- Drums and Chris Bykowski- guitar/vocals.
Without a bass player I was a lover still manages to pull it off with the help of two keyboards, one playing lead and the other bass. While some of the songs are straight forward in structure, this band is anything but straight forward. Most people will say that I was a lover is a very interesting band to put your eyes and ears to. If you don't think so, you will be killed.
Chelsea Adams"writer/editor" - The songs are movements propelled by minimal reveberations that expand and compress around the listener like the bellows of a transcendent accordian. When the movements come together the experience becomes magnified; leaving the listener alone in the midst of a subjective audio experience that tastes and smells as much as it sounds. The instruments layer one another in varying levels of thickness creating atmospheric dynamics that refresh and engulf like light showers and cleansing sheets of rain. Its like comforting science that narrates and propels the progress of the experience like seconds between thunderclaps narrate the progress of a storm. I was a lover Delorean was a dealer is an experience.Don't forget to breath!
