A mix-up in the line-up found sexy ‘sinister disco’ band UR Penetrators on stage next. They gave the crowd a bit of fuck off- punky-disco-pop. This fresh four piece surprised the crowd with their hard-edged and irresistibly danceable music, warming the rather damp crowd into a well approving, though at that point, semi-shy bop. Nothing shy about front woman Liz though, who was giving it kitted out in gold short shorts and cognac coloured men’s shoes.
LEEDS MUSIC SCENE (RU records compilation review)
U R Penetrators are far more arresting. Fab Gossip-style riffs, choppy percussion and frenetic boy / girl vocals make 'Got To Get It Right', for me, the album highlight. And it's danceable as you like; surely this lot can't be genuine Lancastrians... ?

What a refreshing change as a Geordie duck might say, to hear-and almost as importantly, to see-something as punchy sexy and polished as U R Penetrators winning over the notoriously angular Leeds circuit. Shirley Manson leads The scissor Sisters through some intense posercise, and plans life in New York whilst smacking anything that stands still long enough (even the ceiling, this girl is of supermodel proportions) with a single drumstick in time to a frantic four-to-the-floor beat. Just camp enough, utterly gorgeous live dance in a little black dress and sharp trilby. We have been penetrated. Kate Wellham.

Round the corner in THE BLACK LION there's a full-on electro party going on upstairs courtesy of UR PENETRATORS who are whipping up a frenzy with their punk-spiked guitars and high energy disco beats, Prince funk and squat-party dirt, as well as a frontwoman dressed in gold hotpants.
