Music IS my Life

About Me

Born in 1973 on one very hot morning early in the month of August, Francesco Calazzo, as per his own words, has been on a strict diet of pasta and Rock’n’Roll from a very early age. FC’s career started early on his adolescence when he began spinning records for a famous Italian radio-station ("Radio Citta’ Futura" in Naples). He was just 15 y/o and many times he would skip school either to spin his favorite music or to strum guitar in some local, and very obscure, garage (basement would be more to the point here) band.
At 18, after countless rock-bands with names that rigorously started with the article "THE", he went to Law School but a couple of years later he decided that his heart, and mind, was into R’n’R and went to pursue a formal education in Journalism in a country that he loved, even with its obvious flaws, the US. Four years later and tenfold wiser, he became an alumni of the Hunter College, in NYC, a rock-journalist alma-mater in its own right.
From then on, many a day-job have been accompanying his career as a rock-writer. He has been an advertisement-industry whiz-kid and a Business Communicator for important corporations, besides being a Waste-Management industry consultant as of today. He is also giving, though, all he can (less and less by the year) to rock-journalism, the one single thing that really changed the course of his life. He wrote for the Buscadero, Italy’s leading rock magazine, for ten years straight but quit over money that he was owed but never given. In his tenure there, he has been profiling, and many times befriending, artists as diverse as the Kronos Quartet and Steve Earle with very much all there is to cover in between (John Hiatt, Elvis Costello, Eric Ambel, Dan Zanes, John Mellencamp, Little Steven and the list could go on and on). Right now he free-lances with an ever expanding list of Italian publications and holds a column on the on-line magazine OltreNews (Beyond News).
Having married a Frenchwoman, very possibly his true "piece de resistance" along with his daughter Lily-Sun Francesca Ninette, you could easily run into our own FC in Paris, besides the more obvious NYC, Hoboken, New Orleans, Milan and Napoli. Shall you spot him anywhere in the globe, buy him a bottle of Chateau Petrus and drink it with him, he will most likely indulge in anecdotes and music-tales of debauchery from the time when he acted as the US correspondent for the above-mentioned Buscadero and some other Italian publications. Anyway it goes, you are guaranteed a jolly good time.
