The truth is, I don't have much time to watch movies. So there's a ton of great flicks that I've missed. Of the few that I've seen, these are my favorites: Star Wars, Bladerunner, THX1138, Alien, Spinal Tap, Quadrophenia, Tron, Casablanca, The Matrix, Bullit, Easy Rider, Barbarella, Rocky Horror Picture Show, 2001 Space Odyssey, Lord of the Rings, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Zardoz, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Phantom of the Paradise, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Fountainhead, Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery, Donnie Darko...
I try not to watch very much--and I don't have cable! When I do watch, I stick to the Simpsons and PBS. 'nuff said.
Again, since my free time is limited I don't get to read as much as I'd like. But these books have made a lasting impression: Stranger in a Strange Land (Heinlein), Alice in Wonderland, Neuromancer (Gibson), Damien (Hesse), THE BOOK (Alan Watts), Identity and Difference (Heidegger), Prometheus Rising (Robert Anton Wilson), A Brief History of Everything (Wilbur), The Inner Reaches of Outer Space: Metaphor as Myth and as Religion (Joseph Campbell), Thou Art That (Joseph Campbell)... and anything else by Campbell
