HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG!!!

About Me

DAVE “7up” SANCHEZDJ and production styles include house, electro house, deep house, and funky house (and yes there IS a difference…)
Dave Sanchez aka 7up originally hailing from Ohio made the move to Pittsburgh and proceeded to take it by storm. For longer then many can remember, the name 7up has been synonymous with the house scene dropping his unique mixing style at house parties, indoor and outdoor events, and every major nightclub in Pittsburgh and many other major cities around the States. He started Steel City Funk, one of the first major DJ and production teams in the city originally consisting or himself and DJ Brad “Elysium” Thomas and more recently adding Strobe into the fold as well. Dave is also affiliated with Inner Child productions and Groove Shop Records.
Currently, Dave holds a residencie at The Firehouse Lounge, which teamed with Steel City Funk and SCF visuals has become the deciding force of house music in the Pittsburgh area by incorporating hands down one of the best shows both musically and visually every week. By incorporating 3 DJs and a VJ with the latest in high tech DJ gear (such as Satnton’s Final Scratch which allows any DJ to spin MP3s from a laptop with turntables or CD decks) Steel City Funk provides the freshest house music available anywhere. Over Dave’s history he has brought many new styles of house to Pittsburgh including Speed Garage in 1997, to the short but sweet 2-Step trend that came and went with the millennium, right up the present incarnations of deep and funky house which he rocks on dancefloors coast-to-coast, leaving a trail of satisfied party goers in his path. As anyone will attest to, Dave’s performances are nothing short of AMAZING and filled with positive energy which is translated to the people who come to see him play.
But Dave is no one trick pony, not only is he deadly behind turntables or CD decks, but behind the mixing desk as well. From his first release with superstar dance artist Jason Walker (who is a staple on the Billboard Dance charts), new releases like “Feels Like XTC” from 7up and Jes-One (which was played on BBC Radio 1 in the UK by superstar DJ Seb Fontaine), producing a full-length album with Rusted Root alumni Patrick Norman called “Digital World,” the much sought after white labels of Dave’s remixes, to new collaborations with Steel City Funk alumni Brad “Elysium” Thomas and Eric “Strobe” Cohen. Armed with the latest in music production technology Dave and his collaborators have consistently churned out chart topping and dance floor rocking tracks pushing the limits of house.
Most recently, what started out as a mere brainstorming session turned into an energetic collaboration between veteran producers Dave Sanchez and Strobe under the pseudonym “Noumenon” which yielded a summer anthem called “Move” which features Patrick Norman on vocals. The track has gone on to be played across the globe by some of the most well known and respected house music DJs such as Roger Sanchez and KC Anderson. “Move” is destined to move dance floors around the world.
Like the world champion Pittsburgh Steelers, when you think of Pittsburgh you think of the steel industry, blue collar workers, and beer. But just as all things must change, so is the vibe of the city with a new generation of people from all over the world making Pittsburgh their home, and with that bringing a global love of house music. In addition, as technology has become more affordable, more bedroom electronic producers are cropping up and wanting to make their voices, and music heard. But whether you’re a bedroom producer or a world renowned artist, they have all come to Dave seeking his expertise on technology and production and has helped arm more then a handful of international producers and DJs with the latest technology and seminars on how to use it. Hosting bi-monthly info sessions for Red Bull Dave has reached out to the electronic music community in Pittsburgh and given them a place to learn, collaborate, and be part of the scene by bringing in respected producers and DJs to talk about their process and answer questions as well as hands on recording sessions where the attendees get to dive into production under the helping hand of Mr. Sanchez.
Dave Sanchez is as much of what makes the history of house the force it is today, and is destined to be part of ushering in its future as well.BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THESE HUGE EVENTS IN PITTSBURGH!!!
