Hello and welcome.

About Me

The songs that will be on myspace are going to be on my solo cd, which I plan to chip away at as the year unfolds and launch at Kirkby Fleetham Winter Warmer in February 2009.
The song , “My own patch of blue sky” was written last year and is a reflection of the optimism I felt at the time. All of the songs for the CD have been penned over the last couple of years and, as is usual with my songwritting, in retrospect I can see a true reflection of my emotions, rather than immediate perception. Over the years I’ve realised that my songs are offering me insight, and are like a diary . Looking for love....in all the wrong places, and all the wrong faces...........
, I’ve never been one to learn from mistakes and will bat my head against the preverbial brick wall trying to get what I want (need?) The title song, the next one to be recorded at the end of June 08 “Familiar Place” reflects this on going trait and was a real" light bulb" moment fo me. I’ll put it on my space hot off the press and will continue to feature the latest recordings as they are completed over the coming months.
These songs are unashamedly personal and have evolved from the safe plateau I have found myself on. At last. I have the opportunity to gather together my thoughts, feelings and reflections . I didn’t intend to write about anything in particular I picked up my guitar and played, but as the songs tumbled out at high speed over the months (pleased I wrote them down) there it all was
Life is full of suprises, and magic happens when you let go of the wheel, close your eyes and just feel the way. What is wished for can come true. You know, when you think of someone that you haven't seen for a while then suddenly bump into them, or they make contact....... and you sort of expected it.In 2000 after not seeing each other for 25 years I met up again with Les Cameron. We had been good friends and collaborated in musical projects in the 1970’s (and frozen to death etc). This reconnection resulted in a joint venture CD “Beyond the Sand” in 2005, and a wedding in March this year! At last, it's unconditional, my safe plateau. "Why did it take a lifetime before I knew" a line from my song "Believe", Life just gets better (We also gig together.)
Les is playing some characteristically lovely mandolin for me on "My own patch of bue sky"
Recently I performed a couple of the songs for my CD “Familiar Place” live on BBC TEES Bob Fischer’s Gobstopper show, and Bishop Fm Terry Ferdinand’s show and I’m busy getting out and playing my songs wherever I can and hope that I strike a chord with those who listen."I see something of myself in everyone"....Joni MitchellMore tracks will be added to myspace as they are recorded, watch this space!

Sounds Like: “An extremely talented songwriter, who presents her songs with a voice that ranges between sensitive & soaring! But I love good instrumentation, so the best compliment I can offer is that her guitar picking & strumming is as good as it gets.” Stan Gee*
"We are all big Barbara Helen fans at the station but we are not alone, Barbara converts anyone with ears, her songwriting is wonderfull and she is a great guitar player as well (damit). She has a new CD coming out soon and it is going to be GREAT."
