About Me

Most often seen in UK North East folk clubs, jiva also support local charity MIND Active by giving monthly performances for residential care homes. We are also happy to play at concert venues, festivals, corporate and social functions (with our own state of the art Bose L1 sound system if required)... or even a 'house concert' in your front room!

Browse our website and learn more about us , our instruments and the songs including lyrics, background and soundbites.

Thanks for dropping by.

Best wishes
Jimmy and ValOh yes...look out for the jiva design logo at a site near you - we also do websites etc in our 'spare' time!

The quality of sound is inspirational, and the above equipment is therefore a direct influence on us as performers.

There are many other writers and performers we enjoy listening to - most of these are acoustic based, and have probably influenced our sound to some degree... too many to list, but those that spring immediately to mind are (in alphabetical order):

Cat Stevens Cathryn Craig & Brian Willoughby Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Dana and Susan Robinson Eagles Harvey Andrews James Taylor Janis Ian Jim Croce Linda Ronstadt Linda Thompson Magna Carta Nanci Griffith Paul Siebel Ralph McTell Richard Thompson Show of Hands Steve & Kristi Nebel Suzanne Vega Tom Pacheco Tracy Chapman

Sounds Like:

A gentle blend of acoustic guitars and vocal harmony...

What a great pleasure to hear jiva twice in a week. Firstly at the Davy Lamp Folk Club and then at the Clarence in Blackpool. An act maturing with every show, and now displaying that precious ability to write songs that capture an audience's heart. The song about best friends is a pure winner. Superb!!!
Anthony John Clarke

I can’t get enough of their exquisite and gentle playing/singing. I don’t know what it is they have that’s so special, but I do know they have lots of it.
Terry Ferdinand, Bishop FM Radio

Thanks again for your music - I find it soothing, emotional and just what music should be - thought provoking.

That was divine - you are a pair of angels.
The Plough, Staining

jiva always enthral us with their gentle blend of guitar and harmony and last night was no different - their performance was enchanting as always.

We are honoured to have contributed our song "Some Way Home" to the Double CD "Forget Me Not" in aid of Alzheimer's. The CD has 26 tracks from songwriters from many countries - all have donated their time, talent and music to this worthy cause. ALL proceeds from sales go direct to Alzheimer's Society in Ireland.
