About Me

**Order your copy of "Now Then?" from www.wendyarrowsmith.com** ************************************************************ ******Originally from Glasgow, Scotland and now based in North Yorkshire I am influenced by the history and folk of both of these as well as music from further afield. The songs I love to sing come from a wide range of sources - some written by me, some are traditional Scottish and Irish ones which I’ve known since very young and others are American. My tribute to the Whitby Lifeboat crew who saved all on board “The Visitor” in 1881 off the shore at Robin Hood’s Bay is going down a storm (no pun intended!) at local N Yorkshire folk clubs. Yes, it’s a folk song with a happy ending !“Now Then?”... I spent several days in the studio in Leyburn in April 2007. The album is now available, with 13 tracks - 5 tracks are originals and the remainder predominantly traditional. Jon Bunce is on fiddle, and Liam Haicead plays Uilleann pipes, with Paul Arrowsmith (the other half) providing some banjo too!A huge thank you to Rod Baxter for his engineering and recording expertise at The Cabin Room, Leyburn (and his lovely fisherman style backing vox with Paul on "The Visitor"! - Captain Birdseye eat yer heart out, me hearties!!!) ************************************************************ *** Review of Saltburn Folk Festival by Pete Betts (Main stage M.C.) on MudCat Cafe: "Songwriter competition won by a young lady - Wendy Arrowsmith - tremendous song and what a voice and performance .I think we're destined to hear more of her voice and guitar - brilliant singer - a gem." ************************************************************ ***** You can also catch me with our band "Blind Summat"....upbeat (mainly!) songs and tunes from all corners of the acoustic world! Here's me with Blind Summat! doing The Cruel Mother:
