28-year-old Adam Tanner has played bass with more bands than he can remember throughout a roughly decade-long semi-pro career in which he always wanted to record a solo bass album, but annoying things like final exams, work and sleep always got in the way. The Zen Beer project finally came to life in 2004 and has been steadily moving forward ever since, recording the 14-song Grand Unified Chaos in 2005 and getting a distribution deal with Philadelphia e-label ItsAboutMusic soon after.
Influenced by a vast variety of different styles of music, the half-written, half-improvised works take on a life and meaning all their own.
Listings on this page for upcoming Zen Beer shows can be found on this page. A remastered EP of some of Zen Beer's early recordings may also be available soon.
Adam is also available for studio work and instruction on bass guitar in the Ottawa area, please contact if interested.
