I am here for Dating and Friends

About Me

Apparently I'm complicated. I'm a structural engineering grad student who'd rather be working in a bike shop, volunteering with cancer support groups, or writing. My career tests say I'm more cut out to be a social worker or flight attendant than engineer, though urban planner, professor and psychologist are closest to the top.

I drink a lot of coffee, beer, and (recently) wine. I listen to a lot of music and ride my bike everywhere. Fun fact: I've never been more at peace than a few silent moments watching the sun rise over the Atlantic while sitting on a hill I spent the night on watching meteors.

right and wrong

So I'm on my bike tonight, generally keeping up with traffic and taking a lane (one lane each way, double yellow stripe).  A guy cuts over to the wrong-way lane to pass me, and I zip over to cut ...

screwed up

So.... I'm probably screwed up, but not the way I thought I was, if you know what I mean.  It's sometimes surprising (though I guess it shouldn't be) to look back and realize that even three plus...

rant

Sometimes it's depressing being an American.  I love this country, but as a culture, we're a clusterfuck.  We suck an enormous amount of energy and resources from the planet, we eat processe...

Life after cancer

It does exist.  I saw my oncologist today and won't have to again til 2008.  I haven't gone a year without seeing a doc since at least 2001 when I was diagnosed.  Sweet.

Wettest. Coldest. November. Ever.

Seattle broke records for most rain (15.37") and coldest day (18 at the airport) for November.  Last year we set a record for most continuous days of rain.  I might as well stay, it can't ge...

There's a half-inch or so of the white stuff on the street outside my window as I sit here with hot chocolate watching more come down.  It's the third time it's snowed in the last four days - not...
