About Me

Apparently, I'm missing the filter that tells me what is appropriate to say in a given situation. That has led to many an entertaining experience as well as much embarrassment, back peddling and damage control over the years, but most people say it's also one of my most endearing qualities. You never wonder where you stand with me!
If you're the type that never says out loud what you're really thinking, hang out with me and I'll probably say it for you. *I can't believe you just said that out loud* is a common reaction.
In addition to being opinionated and outspoken, I'm also generous, compassionate, introspective and loyal.
I thank my lucky stars every day that I've been able to live in San Francisco as comfortably as I have for these past dozen years, surrounded by a circle of friends that is ever changing and more important to me than anything I could ever own or acquire.

If you'd like to know more about who I am and what I'm into, read the rectangles to the left and you'll see. :)This will also enlighten:
My score on The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test :

Pure Nerd
(78 % Nerd, 47% Geek, 8% Dork)

For The Record:A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd. The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.Congratulations! Also, you might want to check out some of my other tests if you're interested in any of the following:Buffy the Vampire SlayerProfessional WrestlingLove & SexualityAmerica/PoliticsThanks Again! -- THE NERD? My Interests

Outside stuff (Travel, Rollerblading, snowboarding, Frisbee, hiking, camping) ..
Inside stuff (Movies--theatre or DVD, dancing, card & board games, barhopping)
Head stuff (reading, listening to music, learning, sewing, making stuff)
Heart stuff (Keeping in touch with friends and family)
Oh--and did I mention Muscle cars? Yeah. Muscle cars. Call me white trash, I don't care. Gotta love a '69 GTO baby!

I'd like to meet:

Though I am a friendly lass, I will not add strangers as friends nor will I add bands I don't know. All the friends in my space are actual people I know as are the bands. If we've met, however, bring it on! :)

Music:

70's and 80's, pretty much across the board. I like everything from 1 hit wonders, to completely overplayed songs.
I actually own Freedom Rock on Vinyl (plus a shitload of other records), and have a collection of 80's tunes that I've amassed in my world travels (the best being an 8cd set from Milan). If it's ever been considered *alternative*, I'll probably like it. Turn me on to something new!

Movies:

I love them!
Big horror movie fan, but also love the tearjerkers.
Not big on Hollywood--too much gratuitous stuff flying through the air.
Rarely do I dislike a movie in an independant theatre unless it's too self-aggrandizing. The more twisted, the better--ever seen Happiness?
I sometimes do go see big Hollywood blockbusters, though, just so I have something to complain about.
So you want titles? Ok!
Princess Bride, Office Space, Starship Troopers, Can't Hardly Wait, Kingpin, Parenthood, Hair, Logan's Run, Fight Club, Big Kahuna, Gilbert Grape, The Shining, World according to Garp, Blair Witch, Close Encounters, The Jerk, One flew over the cuckoos nest, The Changeling, Breakfast Club, Bless the Beasts and Children, Super Troopers, Night of the Living Dead, Some Kind of Wonderful, Audrey Rose and YES! There are many more.

Television:

Buffy, 6Ft Under, freakish makeover shows (my guilty pleasure in a rubbernecking kind of way), most things on TLC, Discovery, Travel Channel.
Watch TV mostly for the movies though there are a few series that have risen above the status quo of SHIT Hollywood produces.

Books:

Anything and everything.I read about a book a week, so my list is never ending. A few I loved: I know this much is true, A million little pieces, Memoirs of a Geisha, Running with Scissors, Under the Banner of Heaven. PLEASE feel free to recommend your favorite book or author to me--I like fiction (especially horror) but will truely read anything. Nary a day goes by without me spending some time with my nose in a book. Both my parents were librarians, so I never had a chance. :)

Heroes:

My friends. I really mean that.
I have been fortunate to have and keep some pretty amazing people in my life who have taught me more than I knew I needed to learn.
Each day with them is a joy and I hope that my big mouth doesn't someday drive them away.
I guess by now they're used to my *honesty*.
