About Me

From 1981 thru '86 I was a student of Fine Art. From 1983 thru '96 I was a member of the metal punker band Moral Disgust. From 1984 thru '94 I had hundreds of rock journalism pieces published. From 1986 thru '92 I promoted concerts. On into the 21st Century I find myself coming full circle into dabbling in many of these former activities again. I have become a fairly successful photographer (published in Isthmus, Sites And Sounds, Milwaukee Newsletter, and promos for WJJO and WSUM), writer/editor, and studio digital audio engineer. For the future I hope to be successful in whatever endeavors I try next - - - more of my own music, writings, and art mostly, and I also hope to never, ever become "normal". Carpe diem! Online, I am most active in rock fan activities, most notably for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cheap Trick, moe., MC5, Tommy Bolin, and KISS. I also enjoy chats concerning The Mars Volta, Albert Bouchard, Ross The Boss, Iggy Pop/The Stooges, Alice Cooper, Mike Watt (& all of his projects), Lou Reed, Warren Haynes (& all of his projects), the Residents, Zappa, Bolin, and Snakefinger, among others.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

anybody, everybody - even people whose opinions differ from mine.

Music:

El Serpentine's a rock 'n rolly sort of amphibian. Actually I love music in general. To me, there's only two types of music: good music and bad music. Within the umbrella of "good music" could be anything from Black Sabbath to Beethoven to Dwight freakin' Yoakam. Right now some of my favorite newer bands are The Brain Surgeons NYC, System Of A Down, Queens Of The Stone Age, Nonpoint, Chevelle, Flyleaf, JRZ System, Rainer Maria, Arctic Monkeys, The Paybacks, Monster Magnet, moe., Grace Potter And The Nocturnals, Cornmeal, Ozric Tentacles, Gov't Mule, Les Claypool, Nebula, Sparta, and especially The Mars Volta. I'm also very thankful the Meat Puppets are back together! So rock out with your socks off, alright already?

Books:

Authors: Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Robbins, Carl Hiaasen, Kurt Vonnegut, Jonathan Safran Foer, Augusten Burroughs, Joseph Grych, J.P. Donleavy, Charles Bukowski, Ayn Rand, Jim Harrison, Jack Kerouac, Franz Kafka, Tolkien...Poets: Jim Morrison, Patti Smith, Baudelaire, Bukowski, Bob Dylan...
