About Me

Be forewarned, I will use "I" A LOT. Then again, this is moi's page. Also, please forgive me if I overwhelm you with all this information. Okay, I’m gonna be super random and all over the place here: I’m a glass-half-full kind of person, I have my negative moments but I try to always be positive. I’m friendly but not too social. I was born in Mexico City (on July 20) but only lived there the first 3 ½yrs. of my life. I’m bilingual (Spanish & English) but would like to learn a few more languages. I know some words/phrases in French, Portuguese and Italian. I’m the oldest of four. I’m done with high school. I plan on going back to school some time this year. I'll take some art classes and then focus on my career. I’m a thinker.
The ThinkerI'm both idealistic and logical. I'm a visual person (learner) and a slow learner. I'm not slow, it just takes me a while to memorize things. Once I memorize something it’s pretty well stored here in me noggin. I'm good at remembering faces. I'm not too good with names. At times I can be very indecisive. I'm trustworthy. I'm pretty laid back and low-key. I'm a perfectionist. I like change. I've always been a very curious person. I like to wear layers. I LOVE ice cream. I'm a paper hoarder, and an organized one at that. I'm full of contradictions. I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Health is now very important to me. I like Fridays that fall on the 13th. Ironically, I think they're my luckiest days. I always carry a notebook with me (to jot down random stuff or in case inspiration kicks in). I’ve never had a pet in my life nor been around people who have one, so that probably explains my awkwardness around animals. I can be very cheesy. I like to use old slang words from time to time. I'm right-handed. I love the smell of bakeries and coffee shops. I like weird things and the beauty in their oddity. I don't know how to ride a bike. I knew how but forgot. My favorite holidays are Halloween (strangeness is in the air) and Thanksgiving (I‘m very family-oriented). Since Christmas has become so materialistic and commercial it’s no longer a favorite of mine. Here in Illinois it gets a little crazy with the weather. In the winter it gets really cold and in the summer really hot and humid (I hate hot and humid). I prefer the winter time, but in the future I would like to move somewhere that has high 50 - low 70 degree weather all year long. I'm a heavy sleeper. FYI, I don't snore. I’m good at swatting flies. Just thought you’d like to know. I believe in karma and try to live by it. I seek balance in life. I'm very introspective. I daydream constantly, and I like it. I’m against the use of animal fur. I use the words “like”, “feel”, “think”, “believe” and “love” a whole lot. I mean, A LOT. I’m an open-minded person. I donate blood when I can. I have a pretty good sense of humor. I’m a bit of a germaphobe, but not to the Howie Mandel extreme. I do shake ppl's hands. I’m spiritual rather than religious. I’m a picky eater (and with other things). I don’t like to cry in front of people. I love that everything has an end, at least the bad things in life. I’m very New Age. I love irony. I would like to have the ability to fly. Man, wouldn't that be ohw-some. I love rainy days (especially at night). I’m a terrible dancer. I like my music loud. I would call myself a feminist. I don’t believe in marriage for myself. I love to go barefoot or wear flip-flops. Shoes can be so constricting at times. I think I have gaydar. I hate talking on the phone, I much rather talk to the person face to face. I love to laugh. Sometimes, the silliest jokes make me laugh the hardest. I believe in reincarnation and in signs. I don't believe in coink-ee-dinks, everything happens for a reason. I can be a morning person but I’m really a night person (I was even born at night). I’m a huge believer in the supernatural. I'm scared of ghosts. This might be a tad ironic, but one thing I'm not afraid of is death. I try not to dismiss the small things in life.NOTE: None of the pictures that I set as my default picture (or anywhere else in the profile) are of me nor done by me (artwork). At least at the moment they're not.

My Interests

I like to admire any form of art. At the moment I only draw but I’d like to learn to paint and photograph well. I’m not a very prolific artist but I sure do love making art. I especially enjoy drawing faces. I’m not really into drawing men as I am into drawing women. I like to design clothes. I aspire to become a fashion designer. I'm into cosmetology. Fashion. Graphic design. Interior design. Really anything that involves the creative mind. I would LOVE to go to a Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil show (such beauty they both create). Magic. Feng Shui. I like to do research. Poetry (like to read it, not write it). Vampires. Nature. Mythology. Museums (of any kind). I like to meditate. Colors. Old people (they're just so funny and wise, but some are real meanies). I like to bake. Astrology (not horoscopes). Philosophy. I would like to find the meaning of life, at least the meaning of mine. Epiphanies. Psychology intrigues me a lot (human behavior is so fascinating). I like to play basketball, volleyball and badminton. I’m in LoVe with the 60s and 70s era. I like music a whole bunch. I would like to travel all over the world (like: Canada, Sweden, Italy, Seattle-WA, Philadelphia-PA, New Orleans-LA, France, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Japan and China). I have an immense hunger to learn so much about anything and everything. That might be impossible but I would like to come close.

I'd like to meet:

People who are REAL (no posers please). Anyone that: Has a sarcastic sense of humor. Is an open-minded person. Artistic. Creative. Carefree. Nice. Has depth. Anyone that'll inspire me. Someone that shares the same interests as me. I like someone who is smart (I’m not talking about some sort of prodigy here). Someone that is goofy but still mature. I like ppl of any religion, race, color, etc. I like humble, modest people. Bohemian peeps. People who are like onions. No, not smelly. People who have layers to them, that are interesting and complex. People from Mexico City. People who know how to appreciate and love nature. Even if you don't meet NE of these "requirements" don't hesitate to hit me up. Who knows, I might just like you.

Music:

Music, I love music. I don't just like music, I need it. Maybe not as much as oxygen but I need my music fix everyday. If I didn't have music I would feel as if I were living in a house with no windows. I have a pretty eclectic (some might say schizophrenic) taste in music. I like music from Beethoven all the way to Korn and pretty much anything in between (except for country music, nothing against it, it's just not for me). I love finding new music to listen to. I've found that I don't have many "cheery" songs in my music collection. My favorite artists are: Bjork, Broadcast, The Doors, Flyleaf, Tegan and Sara, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I sometimes like to lay on my bedroom floor with my eyes closed and my music loud. It allows me to "see" and feel the music (one time, my mom thought I was high when she walked in my room and saw me doing this). Try it sometime. I find it very relaxing. Movies:

I like movies that carry a deep message, that make me think. I enjoy horror and comedy movies the most. Japanese horror flicks are the best (they‘re truly frightening). I also like watching documentaries. I'm not a big movie watcher or goer but these are my favorite movies (well the ones I can remember): A Christmas Story, Airplane!, Audition, Austin Powers trilogy, The Blair Witch Project, The Breakfast Club, But I'm A Cheerleader, The Craft (a favorite of mine since childhood), Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Duplex, Election, The Exorcist, Ghost World, Harry Potter movies (haven’t seen the last 2), Heathers (haven’t seen it in quite a while), Interview With the Vampire, Ju-on, The Lost Boys, Mean Girls, Napoleon Dynamite, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Pumpkin, Shrek 1 & 2 (haven‘t seen the 3rd one), Silence of the Lambs, Spirited Away, Super Size Me and Young Frankenstein.

Television:

I'm a big fan of THE TV, great invention I must say. I like to watch: 30 Days*, Ace of Cakes*, American Gladiators (Those girls are feisty. My favorites are Crush and Phoenix.), American Idol, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Chelsea Lately, Conan O'Brien*, Current TV, Ellen Degeneres Show*, Ghost Hunters*, Heroes*, Hey Paula (oh, the hilarity of this show), I Love Lucy, Jimmy Kimmel*, Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List*, LA/Miami Ink, Living Single, Mad TV, Medium*, Moonlight, Mr. Bean*, My Name Is Earl*, PBS, Project Runway*, Pushing Daisies*, Reaper*, SNL, So You Think You Can Dance?*, Survivor*, That 70s Show*, The Office*, The Simpsons, The View (hate to admit it but I do like this show), To Catch A Predator (It's a guilty pleasure of mine and it‘s pretty funny. I know it‘s not meant to be but I like laughing at those perverts. Hey, they don‘t deserve NE pity. That‘s my POV.)*, Whose Line Is It Anyways?, Wonderfalls (LOVED this show)*, Work Out, You Are What You Eat and stand up comedy on Comedy Central. This screams "couch potato", right? I assure you, I'm not one. Really. *My favorite FAVORITE shows.
Comedians These people just crack me up: Ellen Degeneres, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin, Chelsea Handler, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Lampanelli, Mike Myers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Bob Saget (Man, who knew he was so dirty. Danny Tanner my eye.), Sarah Silverman and Wanda Sykes.

Books:

I like to read but I don't read as much as I would like. Go figure. The majority of the books that I've read have been self-help books. Two books that have changed my life (forever) have been Creating Sacred Space With Feng Shui and Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui both written by Karen Kingston. They both are Feng Shui related, hence the titles. Like I said, I’m New Age. This is obviously not for everyone, so ignore this. If I’m reading fiction books I gravitate towards the mystery/thriller genre.

Heroes:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a brave man who stood up for what he believed in and what was right. Ppl need to understand that it doesn't matter if you're Jewish, Mexican, gay, African American, Muslim or an alien (from outer space) for that matter, we just need to be more open-minded and accepting of others. NE who, thanx Mr. King, for your courage. Another hero of mine besides MLK is my moms of course. My mom always gave me the freedom to express myself. She sacrificed so much for my siblings and I, all to give us a brighter future. Mom has always encouraged me no matter what it was that I wanted to do in life and always has my back. Everything I have I owe it to her. I can only hope to make her proud. She’s one person I can honestly say I love unconditionally. Yes, yes, I'm a mama's girl.
