BIOGRAPHY
Tennessee Singer Songwriter Colleen Laylon-Frost grew up in a Musical and Proud Military family, the oldest of two children, she has been singing, writing and performing for as long as she can remember. Both her Grandfathers served in WWII, Pappy Glenn (Bony) in the Army and her Pappy Ernie in the Navy. Her deceased biological Father Robert Stevens, proudly served in the Marines stationed in Okinowa, Japan for much of his tour of duty and in the Merchant Marines in Alaska. Her Step Father of 26 years, Walter Braunbeck, who she affectionately calls Dad, proudly served 22 years in the Navy prior to retiring as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer. His fondest memories are tours spent on the USS Duxbury Bay, USS Davis, USS Blandy, USS Barry, USS Normandy, and the USS Norfolk. He has proudly shared many of these wonderful and sometimes painful memories with Colleen over the years. Her Step Brother Bill also proudly retired from the Air force. Colleen’s Twin Nineteen year old Cousin's- Donny and Danny are currently serving in the Army with Donny scheduled for his first tour of Iraq in July.

Her recent original songs reflect the heart and soul of what she loves most, Christian Country music. Her original writing closely resembles Gretchen Peters, heart wrenching story telling style.
"I have no regrets about not being able to follow my heart and my musical ambitions while raising my family." God's timing is everything." Colleen continues, "At times I felt like a lost sheep though, hearing God's calling and encouraging me to focus on using my gifts as often as I could but never being in a position to actually do so. I feel in my heart, we are truly closest to God's purpose for our life, when we are pursuing our natural God given talents and I'm am so grateful that I am now able to listen to His calling."
In 2006, Colleen relocated to Tennessee to pursue her dreams and God's calling full time after going through another devastating personal experience and a bitter custody battle over her youngest child she says- "Things are coming together as God intended and I absolutely love what I'm doing! I'm grateful that God's plan for me still includes writing, singing and performing! It is amazing how He continues to use what I love to do for His purpose. It's truly a blessing. I believe that we are each assigned a gift or special talent from the moment we are Saved by God's Amazing Grace and when we use our gift for God's true purpose for our life, He is glorified."
Colleen songs will really tug at your heart strings. Inspired by true to life experiences, some good and some not so good. This country Singer/Songwriter writes songs that truly capture the human spirit - ones dreams, drama, and heartache.
