About Me

Future Goals: He's not attempting a singing career. Jonathan loves to write music and would love to back a rising upcoming Country artist on guitar and backup vocals. Music is Jonathan's life and it's in his blood and he will actively pursue a career within the Country music industry.Jonathan or (JJ) as he is known to his friends was raised in a Christian home and began performing at a very early age. His mother taught piano and played in their Gospel group "The Blenders". His father was the vocalist for the group. Jonathan began learning the piano and was playing by the age of five. He would perform in church talent shows and in his mother's piano recitals. He attended school at the Victoria Elementary & Lunenburg Primary schools where he also performed in talent shows.Around the age of eight, Jonathan learned to play the bass guitar and around the age of ten he was playing with a local gospel group "The Gospel Messengers. Around the age of thirteen he joined his school band under the direction of the band leader "Dennis Snead" where he learned to play Trombone. His band went on to win state competitions in Richmond Virginia. At the age of fifteen Jonathan was intrigued with the guitar and being home-schooled through his high school years, he had a lot of spare time to practice and learn new instruments. During those years he taught himself to play drums and went on to play with his first gigging band "Rough Stock" based out of Victoria. This is also the age where Jonathan met the love of his life who would soon become his wife.During that period he still had a lingering interest in learning more on the guitar. With the help and guidance of local musician & family friend "Franklin Smith" he learned to play rhythm guitar. Still wanting to know more he worked with another close friend "David Vaughan" who guided him and this is where he started to create his own style of playing on the guitar.Jonathan and his girlfriend at the time "Shanon" married in the spring of 2003 at the Victoria Church of The Nazarene. Shanon is about the biggest supporter of Jonathan and she always encourages him 110% to peruse his dreams and goals. She has attended every show that Jonathan has ever performed except one, and you will still find her to this day, supporting him and pushing him to go further in his musical career. He then went on to perform with several local bands: Aces High, Bad Habit, Crossfire, Overtime & Bootleg. He had the opportunity to perform with some of the best musicians in the area and he learned many genres including: Country, Soul, Blues, Southern & Classic rock, Beach, Motown and more. He always looks back and appreciates anyone who has ever taught, guided or advised him on his playing, as he learns everything he can from each individual he performs with. He has seen the good, the bad and the ugly with bands and he uses that as a learning tool in his future. Now looking in the right direction about where he wants to go in his life with his music, you will find Jonathan performing every chance he gets. Now with his small, home studio you can find him at any given time of the night or day writing and recording original music as well as covers.A message from Jonathan: I would like to thank you for visiting my page and I appreciate your support & I look forward to seeing you soon on the road. May God bless you in everything that you do!Jonathan Sharpe (JJ)
